voltage regulator?

Featured Replies

New problem with my felly today :( sat in traffic the radio turned itsself off and refused to turn back on, until 5 mins later it turned itsself back on, shortly followed by the airbag warning light.

After searching old posts on here it sounds to me like the voltage regulator, but dont have multimeter to test.

Would it be reasonable to assume thats the problem and order a new one or is there anything else it is likely to be?

cheers

it will be the reg, too much of a coincidence for it to be anything else.

problem solved, eventually.. apart from airbag warning light

ended up having to replace the whole alternator after driving it with faulty reg. blew one of the (original) brake bulbs too. everything else seems to have survived.

£186 from Halfrauds autocentre for the 90amp was best deal I could find without too much fuss. didnt have in stock but ordered one in for me within the hour.

might save me having to replace the thermostat housing now too after giving the rad quite a bashing, too much faffing with that bloody tensioner (which Haynes says my car doesnt have).
