Hi all
My tyres are no where near due for change but i plan ahead, i was looking to buy these tyres a while back but came across the Uniroyals so got them instead, now these are wearing pretty quick and im not helping that with my heavy right foot but i cannot fault them at all.

The Falkens are cheaper and have a similar tred pattern, how do people rate them? Are they ok for wear? Personally i think the tyre reflects the price, the Falkens are a good £30 cheaper then the uniroyals, this to me says their not as good and i do like to throw the car round in corners.

I know there pretty popular in the VAG scene for some reason, so they must be half decent?

Not sure the FK452 is still in production anymore, as they are now producing the FK453, I've read the 452 have balance issue's and some have complaned when they get down to 4mm on their noise.

What about some Hankook's, they get very good review's

Had 452's on a number of cars, they're my default go-to tyre :)

Luv em

Get around 13k out of fronts, which is better than any other tyre I have run, grip level as good as Toyos in dry weather imo, a little less when wet.

13k? That all?!

I did 20k a year in my first Octavia tyres were nearly new when I got the car, and when I sold it 18 months on the tyres had some life left in them. So easily got 30k out of a set!

I've been through a fair few makes of tyres, from premium to budget and these Uniroyals are the best i've known for grip but this is a working car so it does plently of mileage so if i could get a combination of good wear rate and grip (in an ideal world!) I'd be happy. 13k out of the fronts id be very happy with but im guessing this is all mainly down to the driving style

Most likely a really hard compound, a good average tyre wear for a nice a sticky tyre is about 10-15k
Yours may have lasted a while but they need to keep up with the punishment they get off me and nothing ruins a car more then rubbish tyres

Yup, had Federal's on an old Audi A4 which almost killed me!

The FK452's are reasonably hard, but they grip very well :)

Tbh i should really treat my tyres with more TLC but where's the fun in that? :D
Buuut the Uniroyals are sooo good in the wet, hence the name but they tackle standing water like its not there, why cant Mr Uniroyal make them last longer? :(

Tyres are a complete compromise! Just got to pick the best bits you want and put up with the bad bits!

He can, but then it doesn't grip, if you can find any, Syron a company in Germany make a tyre called race 1+, when tested it's getting better results than many of the leading brands for a lot less £'s. .

You have also admitted to never doing over a ton lol

I do constant stop start in traffic and around SW crappiest roads braking, turning reversing etc, I did 150miles on Friday between The Diff, The Port and the Valleys, filled up Wednesday 5.00pm gone by 7.00pm Friday.
It takes it's toll on everything including me lol

Just getting ready to replace my 452's, got 18k out of my set and i'm far from gentle with them, no problem with noise, balance or economy, from new down to my last 2mm. Found them to be a good tyre in the wet, and fairly good in the dry, coped well in the snow also, just need to decide what to replace them with now

You not going to replace them with 452's again Andy?  I'm looking for new tyres and trying to decide between 452's or vredestein.

Might try the new 453's, not sure yet, see what prices are like when when the time comes to replace.

Had a good pairs of 452's myself.  I really like them, never had any issues with them.  Just ask Sharkrider about their traction out of wet corners. ;)

I would defo recommend them and will likely be putting a set on my new car when the time comes.

Think I'll go with the Falkens, they are cheaper than the vredestein by about £25-£30 per corner so will give them a shot.

I fitted falken 452's to replace the original conti's on my octy, they lasted around 13k (they would of lasted a bit longer but my tracking was out & had worn on the inside edges) they were quite noisey though,i have replaced them with some Nexen N6000's & im impressed with them for a mid range budget tyre, they have the same tread pattern as the falkens & arent as noisey & cost £135 for two from camskill & a mate fitted them for free.

FK452s are a great all rounder, good value quality tyre.
I'd have the Falken ZE912s though, cheap but perform like a tyre twice the price!

452s are good value. I've got 4 on at the moment. They stretch quite nicely and they're cheap. camskill actually had the 215/40/R18s for 50 quid a corner a while back! They're good in the dry and pretty bad for aquaplaning when it's wet.

ive had falkens in the past vectra sri and rated them pretty good compared to eagle f1s they replaced, wet grip was good but i did notice it dropped off considerably as they wore down(more than the goodyears), my only gripe with them is they seem to sit quite narrow on the rim and they offer very little rim protection.

Cannot say anything but good about these. Had these on my MR2 turbo for years (for the record, 345bhp and 320lb/ft) and they outperform Eagle F1s and Toyos hands down. They are a slightly stickier rubber due to the silica tread (lasted same time as Eagles & 1k longer than Toyo) but tbh, as I never suffered any type of aqua planing with them, if they did them in std fabia sizes, I would swap them out now.

Do not know how the new ones compare but as the 452s were a galactic step forward over the 451s, I'm positive Falken will have got it right.
