Tomorrow im going to view a 205 gti track tool

It has a mi16 conversion as well as a few other mods, but as a 25 year old car do you have any memories of what to look out for or any tips for "older" racers ?

I had a few 205's and even the odd 405, I would make sure the engine is up to operating temp and that the fans come on, also make sure the head gasket is good.

Both of my 205's had the electric fan on permanently as wires in the loom were broken causing this issue, it took ages to track down the problem, cut and join the wires again.

I put up with the other problems like poor brakes and loads of travel in the gear linkage.

Just make sure you get it warm and give it a drive through all the gears up and down the box if you can.
