Looking at the postage charge, Dave, you could probably get an open face on ebay for that price

damn! lol.. missed that , thanks Bryan :p

Call about local motorcycle shops and ask how much open face lids start at Dave.

Better to try them on and get a proper fitting one imo.

Probably be ok. I did look at them and settled on one of these by OMP for a few quid more.

Cheapest I could find one plus Nectar points too.

that looks as good as any Jonny :)

I was hunting for a lid last week. After nearly buying online I decided I wanted to try one before buying, measuring said I was a Medium but I wasnt so sure. After some hunting I found lidsdirect.co.uk, they have a shop in Watford. I went down last saturday tried a few on, I was a perfect large. Bought a Spada open face lid for £37.50. Came with a free cleaning kit and helmet bag, worth £15 each iirc! Seems well made, fits nice and will do me for now. The do mail order too so worth a look.

Open face are a lot more practical for use in a car.

But remember when buying and penny pinching you are going to be putting your most prized possession inside it. :)

That's a point, Dave

Ditch the helmet and buy a cricket box :)

I was meaning your brain, but I guess it depends what you think with.

I agree open face is probably more practical in a car but in all honesty

I think it's more important not to skimp on a helmet used when you are on

two wheels, in that case my attitude would be buying the best that

money can buy.

But realistically, 99% of the time you are in a car you aren't wearing one,

yet you're much more likely to have a head on collision on the public road,

or hit an immovable object (house, tree, lampost, juggernaut etc)

you're just as likely to have an incident at 60mph+, and your airbags, seatbelt,

seats and crumple zones are all there to protect you if you do.

On the track, you are all travelling in the same direction (hopefully..), there's a decent run

off most of the time if you run out of talent (grip), and you are no more than about 20

seconds away from help and medical attention if you need it. And you still have all the

belt pretensioners, airbags etc as well.

In normal cars (unlike Boss Foxs rice burner) you're doing pretty well if you get over

100mph on the straight at Combe but the rest of the time you don't really get much above

motorway pace.

I reckon that statistically you're more likely to have a serious issue on the road than

you ever are on the track. Just my opinion of course.

Still cannot forget a beautiful girl turned into a weg after a very simply small side impact at very low speed - she hit the side of her head against the pillar. I went for this one and consider homologation and free helmet bag I think it is a good value for money

http://www.demon-twe...-club-x1-helmet in mat black XL - it's ECE Approved

EDIT: I bought full face as I will be using it for karting as well

ooh, matt black, you do know bird turd will stain that.... sorry that is matt black BMW's..

Your helmet looks very Stealthy mate, we will be able to pick out the whites of your eyes when you are in the car.

Imagine if my skin colour is black! I also like to wear all black - just a pair of eyes on stalks floating in the middle of the car. If nothing else this should scare everybody into submission seeing such a thing in the rear view mirror :D

BTW I am having problems with getting it. Ordered 8 days ago and still nothing...

You will find the politically correct term is afro caribbean.

But I know what you mean Jabo.

I bet most political correctly termed ones never seen either Africa or Caribbean, unless of course they are on benefits ;)

EDIT: I know I didn't :D

in the end , I bought this, due to the money saved on my cashback site...

Looks nice, flippale sun visor is a good addition.

So you got it even cheaper than that then? Bargain.

I have a bit of a problem with my one. Demon Tweaks in correspondence are saying that it should be with my by the ebd of the month and I need it for the 27th briskie karting outing...

There is the same one on flee buy shop at the same price and free devliery but without free lid bag, what do you think?

in 11 years of doing trackdays I have never had my helmet checked once.

However if you ever get into hill climb or speed events or any other Motorsport where the MSA bluebook applies then the helmet needs to be MSA approved. Section 10 of the Blue book states all the Safety specifications that will be approved by the MSA.

Does the ebay one guarantee quick delivery?

If so, cancel DT and get the ebay one

Jabo, I am in Wrexham tomorrow, I could collect from tweeks unless they are out of stock.

I personally use a cheap lid off Amazon, I figure the airbag and car around me will save me! If I were just on the road that is all I would have.

I think you'd have to assume that they are if they can't deliver until the end of the month

Maybe Jabo is an awkward size?
