Corroding Wheels

Featured Replies

My Yeti Elegance is approaching her 3rd birthday so i thought it was time to give her a wash in preperation for her special birthday party down at Listers in Banbury. With wheels blisters in the finnish of her

Annapurna alloys stand out like sore thumbs. One quick look round the car with a service manager and Listers have agreed to respray all the wheels under warranty and supply and fit 4 new Pirelli tyres for £100 each.

Finish on the Annapurnas is part paint/part polish and lacquered - I've yet to have a VAG wheel with that finish which hasn't shown some corrosion within the warranty period. VAG used to replace the wheels without question - they now seem to be moving towards a policy of repainting/refinishing.

Once mine are out of warranty and start to show signs of lacquer failure they'll be off to be refinished in a more durable dark grey powder coat, I think?
