Superb 2 FL - steering wheel retrofit.

Hi..

I just inspired this video:

I bought the new steering wheel from Octavia 3 as following:

Did someone try to retrofit this one?

I just tried yesterday - but no luck. The wiring is different that before, I found one combination but not works completely fine.

I'll let You know the solution if I found it.

I have another plan...

My source of an airbag is my second car - Citigo MY2013.

I will swap the wheels and airbags.

More interested for me is the electrical connections between the module 16 and wheel electronics itself.

It's not straight 1-1 connection, but will try.

A little update on that.

If You mention to retrofit the steering wheel from Superb Facelift - ENSURE - this is Superb facelift steering wheel.

I bought the wheel for Octavia 3 and unfortunately it has different electronics and cannot be fitted to our cars. So, be careful.

My colleague retrofitted S2 FL wheel last time successfully without need to exchange the 16-module.

Is that the assistant that automatically dims the highbeams?? What did you have to install to get that? :o I'm guessing a front facing camera, a new windscreen and some coding? Do you have traffic sign recognition now also?

Have you ever looked into the Rest Assistant? Sounds like it doesn't need the camera, it just measures your steering inputs;

rest assistant, which, at speeds above 65 km/h, evaluates data from the power steering sensors. When the system detects behaviour indicating that the driver might be tired, it suggests to take a break.

Details here:

You need the main part as this:

http://allegro.pl/vw-touran-golf-6-lusterko-z-asystentem-5k0857511b-i3576947798.html

The traffic recognition requires different camera, including the light nad line assist.

I saw it working in Touran MY2006, so it's possible anyway.

Are these available from the dealers - and how much are they likely to cost?

In Belgium price for the 3-spoke was 400£. That does not include the airbag, that's another 307£

And delivery times were "10 days or more, these are not marked "in stock" anywhere in the system"

3-Spoke MFSW Rad/Tel 466,95€

Airbag 359,49€

Total 826,44€

Just replaced my 4-spoke old MFSW in my MY2010 Superb with the new 3-spoke MFSW from the Superb Facelift.

brh8.jpg

Partnumbers;

-3-spoke MFSW, leather, telephone = 3T0 419 091 G

-3-spoke MFSW, leather, telephone, DSG = 3T0 419 091 AJ

-Airbag = 3T0 880 201 G IZY

-Airbag cable (You need to have this, the facelift wheel has a different connector) = 5JA 971 584

The new one is from a DSG car, I have a manual, but you can either ignore the paddles which don't work obviously, or you can easely remove them from the steering wheel (like I did)

All buttons, functions and lights work. Install took about 5 minutes, no need for new coding in my case.

Price?

205€ for the wheel using allegro.pl (got lucky)

392,77€ for the airbag using the local dealer (unlucky, airbags are hard to find and very expensive :'( )

Worth it? To each his own, I think yes. It's thicker in the right places, it looks miles better, the airbag is a bit less protruding, and the rollers to use the volume and maxidot controls are nice metal instead of plastic! Buttons feel more positive aswell!

Many thanks to Enriquez with all the help provided! :-)

Hello All,

just to confirm if I have thrown away the money ordering 5E0419091 AF CWE from ebay?

http://www.ebay.de/itm/121687682538

I have been reading some other topic on this forum and neglected to note that steering wheel swap from Superb II DSG 2011 is only possible with steering wheel from Superb II restyling (not with Octavia III)?

it can not be swapped? :(

Cheers

I want to ask if anybody knows part numbers for an airbag which would fit  4 spoke - with telephone control - 3T0 419 091 AH or are they the same for 3 spoke and 4 spoke MFSW? Thanks.
