Ash's Octy VRS Build Thread

Recommended Posts

So in February 2013 I picked up my VRS from the dealers looking a  little sorry for itself and needed a clean.

It had 109,000 on the clock and ran beautifully for a car of its age. It had brand new Avon tiers all round, cam belt change and a service before I purchased it.

When I got it home I was all over it with the cleaning tools to make it smell and look nice.

After scrubbing her clean I took her for a photo shoot.

Few weeks later I wanted a remap so I went to PSI tuning in Stoke where I live and they said I will need a dump valve.

I said which will be the best and they said some name. They installed it and did a remap and it came out at 213 at the wheels.

When I took it to DynoDaze they told me that this dump valve is terrible and I should remove it immediately.

I went back to PSI and got them to swap it for a Forge 008 Divert Valve.

Got that in and sorted as well as a green panel filter and now running 213BHP.

Gave it another clean too!

I haven`t got around to getting mine remapped yet.  So I`m running the standard spring. Can`t remember what colour it is. I know the other two spare springs I have in the forge box are blue and Yellow.  I think the standard one is Green?

Thanks for the heads up on PSI of Stoke. It's common knowledge that our engines are made to use a divertor, and they have Skoda over the door  .

Welcome aboard.

Strike psi tuning off the list of reputable tuners!

Would a bunch of dweebs! Probs wanted rid of it! The standard valve is fine when remapped so it didnt 'NEED' anything

And the 213bhp will be at the flywheel not the wheels

Nice looking car

I'm not too far from you (Market Drayton). If you want me to take you out in mine (Stage 2) to see what it's like, let me know :)

Shame PSI advised you to buy what is much worse than an OEM diverter, I've had work done there and couldn't fault them.

Thanks for the comments guys. Just got a works van so I can mod the **** out of it now.

Definitely want to rebuild the engine with an LSD on the gearbox.

I need to do some digging.

Looks good mate. Suprised to hear about psi thought they knew there stuff.

Also a stokie live pretty much opposite psi tuning.

Well that's what I thought as they are building some mad cars there.

I then left them a message on the FB wall asking them to change it as it could potentially ruin my car 'Over Dramatic'.

They did change it and provide another pipe that was cut and all good.

FMIC, Turbo-Back exhaust (Sports Cat), TIP, CAI, 007P.

That's about it hardware wise, managed 235bhp/301ftlbs at R-Tech.
