I've glued the vents down now though otherwise that would have been a great shout :( Not to worry though

Got another pic of the cooler, along with a intercooler selfie for a laugh, as seen it's bloody huge, can't get over it! (please excuse the double chin haha)

Is* sorry haha

Smallish update but none the less an update!

I'd seen on a lot of forums and threads that the CCV system clogs up the intake manifold, also by inserting oily hot vapours into the air that has already been measured by the MAF sensor it makes the car ever so slightly less efficient.

Way to get around it is by directing the ccv to a catch can or simply the atmosphere.

Alls that needed is a 19mm rubber pipe and a 25mm walking stick end. Along with two jubilee clips to hold it on.

Attaching the 19mm tubing onto the CCV

10677509666_983a0679a0_b.jpg

All done! I re-directed the pipe underneath the car. Apparently people get steam when sat idling but I couldn't see any.

10677542594_df7cbb064c_b.jpg

First impressions are good, I didn't see any better pick up however I noticed a 2mpg increase on my run up to Newcastle last week. Averaged 67mpg sat at 70-75mph all the way there which I was very happy with!

Usually get around 64-65mpg.

Second update is, i've had a few issues with tracking lately. Garage kep telling me its hard to track as apparently the "springs have been cut". Personally from inspection they looked fine but the car did sit low and the os shock absorber was leaking like mad. So I ended up changing them.

Started dismantling everything, fairly easy but the drivers side was a bit of a ***** due to having to compress the shocker as it won't slide down due to the driveshaft getting in the way.

10677498475_88c57edac0_b.jpg

Shocker out.

Leaky shocker!

New springs all fitted thanks to the garage up the road.

10677662834_9c7ba44ac5_b.jpg

It was 6.30pm and absolutely freezing outside but I told myself I needed to get it done as i've got Uni tomorrow at 9am and don't want to get the train so onwards! haha

10677719224_91f4ac5dc2_b.jpg

All in :)

10677922333_6828f0c753_b.jpg

Managed to do both sides within an hour which I was pretty pleased with to say I didn't have spring compressors or a hub splitter which would have made my life much easier. Suspension looks so so high at the front now, just needs to settle i'd imagine.

Come at me speed bumps lol

Cheers!

Looks good Dan, my little bro had a pd100 version, and funnily he was, and I emphasize WAS doing god front shockers, apart from the poor lad un did the top mount nut, with out spring compressors, standing above looking down, so I had to do them after calling him a ambulance! Knocked clean out for a good 5 mins and a broken nose! Never seen so much blood come from a nose in my life, least its nothing majour, he's got to go for surgery Wednesday

Anyway nice updates mate

Evening! Today I started fitting the intercooler as seen earlier in the thread :)

Lots and lots of pics taken woo. Fitting was so easy, everything fits perfect and I only had to remove a few bits of plastic cowling with the grinder. No alterations to the crash bar either which is ideal!

I didn't completely get it done due to a problem further down but it's being sorted :)

Anyway...

This is becoming such a classic position of my car in my drive now hahaha. Started removing the bumper bit by bit

With the trims removed the rubbish, leaky, tiny smic can be seen

10710861063_3e1b8c6b12_b.jpg

The pipes are caked in oil, and leak like mad.

10710665926_f557e5cb73_b.jpg

I then removed the whole smic and pipework

mmm tasty

Check out the size difference!

10710568306_670c24492e_b.jpg

I then started fitting the brackets to see where they go on the car, they are made to fit in where the radiator is held in place, no drilling required, woo!

This is the bit of plastic I said I had to cut, it's basically a bit of trim. Nothing too important.

Now to start with the piping! It looked like it might be a pita to get all right but I just went onto the website where they show it all connected and I just followed that.

Cinnamon bagel and coffee required!

Made an absolute mess of the driveway though.

I used my seals from the old intercooler as they look to be in good condition but may fit new ones at a later date if required.

Removing the old MAP sensor to go into the new pipe.

10710157195_d6aa4ea42f_b.jpg

I then had to leave it at that for the day because of a problem shown below.

10710393193_cbe4f90f6e_b.jpg

The kit was supposed to come with a MAP sensor reducer however they'd forgotten to put it in the box :( Not to worry, just delayed a bit.

As you can see the hole is way too big for my map sensor

10710073976_f3e8aa7083_b.jpg

And as seen in the bottom left (although this is forge not airtech), the reducer was supposed to be in the kit but it wasn't.

IMG_5213.jpg

The wait is killing me already, anyway thats all for now :)

I'd recommend this kit already, the pipework quality is excellent as is the cooler, brackets are perfect fitting too.

Cheers!

More progress from today :) Managed to get it all on, had to trim a bit of bumper and just wiggle everything into place really.

My MAP adapter comes tomorrow so it will be drivable!

I noticed that the pipes were pressing up against the crash bar and other parts of the car so I found some sticky foam and started putting it on the bits that rubbed, to prevent any usage wear!

Looks good Dan.

Looks like you also have a bit more room for the MAP sensor plug to go in. On mine (with the DD solid pipe kit), it's a real tight fit!

I have to say the Airtec is a lot better and my air charge temps (with the big turbo) are 20-30 degrees lower than with the Forge FMIC I had before. There might be a tiny bit more lag, but I still need to finish sorting out the map at the lower end.

You can say good riddence to heat soak in the summer :D

Looks good Dan!

did you buy the turbo coupler? Or re use the original on a silcone bend? Either way looks good!

Thank you Danny! The coupler came with the kit, I didn't think the kit was good value for money at first but when you price up everything separately from else where it really is as you get the brackets with it, which are of excellent quality and fit so well. They're also rubberised on the ends to stop any nasty vibrations. Then the cooler itself is so deep and welded at the cores not pressed like some others. Looking at the forge fmic it just looks so inferior compared to this in terms of capacity, quality and the routing of the pipework in my opinion.

Cheers mate :) Had a little wiggle of the wire and yep as you say, its got loads of room and is very loose (hehe). Glad you're liking the cooler, can't wait till this is done :)

This thread is full of win! Just seen it.

Dan I also have the Ibiza pd130 ! Had it over 10 years now and still love it!

Appreciate the kind words!! :)

Wow 10 years, the longest i've had a car is 2 and that was a long time haha. Has it given you much hassle over the years? Also do you have a progress thread or anything anywhere? Be good to read if so

Today I came home from Huddersfield to a card through my door saying my parcel has been taken back to the sorting office :( So annoyed as I wanted it up and running today grr never mind

Never did a build thread as didn't have internet or car forums when I started modding the car after a few weeks of owner ship lol!

Only problem I've had is the worn out cam followers which failed at hoe acht corner at the nurburgring . Car was left in Germany while I flew home. Got it back a month later and had a new cam, followers, bolts, bearings and what ever else fitted and all is well again. Will post a pic of my worn cam followers in a min.

My car has 200 bhp and 380 ftlbs (Jabba sport dyno on a cold day) which helped finish the cam followers off. Not normally an issue on std power engine .

My break down cover returned the car home for repair but I could of left it in Germany to be fixed but I'd rather deal with English based mechanic(the guy who fixed it was a German funnily enough based in Liverpool)

I've had all the usual mods such FMIC hybrid turbo, miltek SS exhaust, RAB,eibach coil overs, strut braces front and rear, pro race wheels, bucket seat, Sachs organic clutch, poly bushes, B&M short shifter, 312mm brakes with tarox B32's, OMP steering wheel, battery in boot mod ect ect

Fitted a new wheel bearing today after mine starting whirring away or should I say juddering, proper vicious sound not the usual buzz.

Started off nicely by catching this cut on my finger that won't heal because everytime I do something car related I end up knocking it hahah

10840400933_611087d1bd_b.jpg

I then started dismanting everything, knew what I was doing this time after changing the shocks so it was pretty straight forward

10840397293_44f7e154e3_b.jpg

Little bit of wiggling and this came out yay!

10840391993_759fe4142b_b.jpg

Took it to the garage to be pressed in, they've got a 20 ton press which was ideal!

All on :)

The juddering has completely gone and I can enjoy a nice quiet-ish drive! Taken some pics, showing the intercooler too!
