Update since had new engine fitted 16/10/14. 1500 miles done and oil level remains above the max level. not sure how much extra oil is in there but seems to be ok. In final discussion with Skoda UK for compensation as been nearly 2 years 2 cars and 5 engines to reach this point.

Also re warranties, skoda UK state warranty only lasts as long as the original warranty and that if engine replaced with one month of the 3 year warranty left you will only get 1 month on the new engine. Would have thought this would be considered illegal and fall foul of trading standards and consumer rights laws.

Cheers for that,  i will bump the 'Consistent treatment thread',

they often say no extended warranty, but then they have had to make 'Good will gestures' & actually treat people properly in the end.

You would need to ask them to show you in writing where that tolerance is.

Some dealers employees might try to say 0.5 litres per 1000 km (621 miles)

& even that is nonsense.

(1 litre in 1,242 miles)

Someone is telling you porkies, and it is not on here.

8450 miles = 13,598 km

So according to the Owners manual for every engine, May use 0.5 litres according to driving style & use.

so maybe near 7 litres,

if that was acceptable.

Yours had used near 6 litres,

and that is greater than the 0.34 litres in 1000km use that many have already had new engines fitted at.

Did your car get an 'Official Oil Consumption Test',   then the Breather Mod & ECU Update,

Then another Official OIl Consumption Test'.

Oil Dropped, Weighed,  Car run for 300 km, 600 km or what ever,

the OIl Dropped & Weighed?

Seems like a failure,

Where did the '0.84 litre 620 mile in tolerance'  figure come from,    Who told you that?

That is because a 'Warranty Company Policy'  bought and paid for your engine, so a Skoda Part, is it not.?

The same as if you were to buy the engine with your own money.

If Skoda replace an engine, the same as above, from a Manufacturers Warranty,

you have to argue to get the Manufacturers Warranty Extended on the engine.

Spoke to customer services and am Awaiting a call from the garage that done the breather pipes. Was told oil has to be weighed again, drove certain milage then re-weighed. Will they let me do the milage this time? Or should I insist ?

Sorry,

but now they are just messing you about.  It is now a farce.

Ask Skoda UK Customer Services if they can get a Qualified Master Technician to check your car and see if it now requires a

replacement engine.

Ask to talk with Tom Chadwick, Dan Wilson, John Good or some Manager at Skoda UK.

They need the cars properly repaired.

What they are doing is wasting your time trying to get some oil usage that they can say is acceptable

from an engine that clearly was and still is using too much oil.

?

Can you name the Dealership that is dealing with your car?

Just to see how others got on with them in the past.

They are all taking the ****.

Take copies off this thread and batch them up and email them to Tom Chadwick.

Ask him if this is consistant practice with all Skoda Dearlerships .

Perhaps he can decipher the crap from the correct procees/procedure that should be used to support the Customer.

Bloody FARCE the inconsistent treatment dished out by Skoda UKCS not seemingly knowing what is going on at the dealerships service departments.

It is out of control, TOM CHADWICK AND YOU NEED TO GET IT SORTED

Ask Trans City if that is the decision they received from the Skoda UK Milton Keynes Technical Department after they submitted

the results of the tests they carried out.

Or is that the decision of the Trans City Workshop?

Maybe ask then to send the copies of the test results,

and Written Copies of the Skoda / VW acceptable oil use.

If Trans City say they belong to Skoda, then ask Skoda UK Customer Services for them,

after all it is your car even if they are paying for the tests.

Sorry to hear of the issues you are having Scotty.

My old car was using a similar amount of oil to yours looking at your figures.

For example, from my oil log;

27424m - 7 dots down dipstick (just under halfway down) nothing added

27938m - bottom of hatched area, added 650ml of oil to bring to top of hatched area

28883m - Oil halfway down dipstick nothing added

29507m - Oil at bottom of hatched area, 650ml added to bring to top of hatched area

Same as my old car, you are in the limbo of 'too much to be normal consumption' but 'too little for Skoda to do something about it'

You need to breakdown ,by  mapping out in say a flow chart format.

Your personal figures prior  to   1st official test, to correct procedure.

Consumption rate pre-breather Unit fitted ,post breather unit and ECU Update .

Evidence via test result sheets  as George suggests.

I will bump the 'You must pay if the car passes' thread.   Dealers have been coming away with this for 4 years.

Even invoiced people,  and had to refund them.

You want to talk to Tom Chadwick or John Good, even Dan Wilson,   not some partner.

Maybe even Caroline if she is still there, and more familiar with the Failure rate of their CAVE engines.

i didn't really log down oil use until it went into be fixed, it was doing about 1L per 900 miles as i can remember. and i asked Trans City twice and was refused the results!

I have asked to go to Spirit Skoda in Harlow instead now. awaiting there call to be booked in.

cus. serv. lady said she cant do nothing more until the test has been carried out

Who refuses to give you a copy of the Results from the test that was carried out?

Was it a Warranty Oil Consumption Test approved by Skoda UK, & paid for by them,

then Skoda UK approved the Breather Mod.

Just get Skoda UK to provide it to you,

because they will have to if a Solicitor Requests it.

& they are not going to like if you have an Independent Engineers report.

Anyway, hopefully someone at Milton Kenyes will be keeping an eye at Briskoda,

and they will do the right thing.
