Is there anyone that has had an Engine replaced this year that can say what they received.

Was it a New or Reconditioned Engine, did they have a New Catalytic Converter fitted,

& did they get an Extended Warranty from Skoda beyond the Original 3 year.

Did the Dealership or Skoda provide a letter & Invoice providing the information on all new parts fitted,

New Spark Plugs, Air Filter or anything else.

& any information on informing the DVLA about the car having a replacement engine.

Has the Service Book been Written up,

& where you told to have the next Service done at your expense just when the car is due a Annual Service. Oil & Filter.?

New engine February this year.

Told it is reconditioned but date on the engine is December 2013. Told it was from the factory. Guess I will never know the whole truth.

No new catalytic converter. I guess it may be ok as the car was at 8500ish miles. Who knows, I'm sure they will just say now that it doesn't need replacing.

No new spark plugs according the invoice (which I have a copy of)

Have not got a copy of the consumption test prior to replacement.

They have not informed the DVLA despite it being a requirement to do so. I confirmed this with the DVLA a few weeks ago. Any idea where I can find the engine VIN number?

Service book written up but wrong mileage noted down. Mileage at the start of oil consumption test written down.

The service manger told me that the car should be serviced next in line with the existing service schedule as though the engine has never been replaced. He said something like, whether this be in 10,000 miles time or 500 miles time.

"Extras":

- 1 year extended warranty (had to push hard to get this)

- free next service (20,000 mile / 2 year service) will make sure Skoda pay for new spark plugs at this time if they aren't scheduled and air filter, maybe some new wiper blades as well.

- retrofitted cruise control FOC.

Simple answer to the thread is "NO". Skoda are not treating all customers equally or fairly IMO from what I have heard.

No I dont believe we are treated fairly. I had a new engine (after lots of hoop-jumping) fitted 900miles ago. Base engine replaced aswell as any perishable parts such as cat, spark plugs air filter pollen filter. I got reimbursed for 11litres of oil (invoices kept).

No new turbo even though its probably goosed from all the oil.The bit replaced was built october last year. No new engine numbe apparently so need to notify anyone...

Was told that only my existing warranty would cover the engine. No new warranty. (extended used car that ends in september) currently going back and forth with the brand director/manager bloke and who ever he gave the responsibility to. No goodwill of any kind from skoda. (Dont want any from the dealer as they didnt sell me the car so dont feel why they should be chastised) couldnt get anything at all out of skoda or the warranty company. Not even wilers or my next service (4year one) have been told my service will be 249 minus parts that went on when engine fixed. So probably just going to be paying for dsg service (179 I believe but may be talking codswallop)

** There is no DSG Service required.**

4 Year/40,000 mile Service is a Major/ Inspection Service.

So Pollen Filter *& it would be Air Filter & Spark Plugs replaced if not already done,

and a full going over, but its really Just Oil & Filter and a looky see.

Get a ECU Update doing though when its on the Diagnostics.

If Skoda want £249, you might as well go to a VW Dealership to get it done for the same Price.

Well he said 249 minus what was replaced when they had it. I assume vw have the same system? So can bring up my details as it were? Or do you think im best just keeping up my relationship with the service dept at local skoda? So the dsg doesnt need servicing at all?

I would dump Skoda, if they quoted on a DSG service that shows someone at the service desk is clueless.

But if any problem shows in the next short while, you are stuck with them for a bit.

VW Dealer perfectly OK if you want a main dealer service and stay at Manufacturers Service Schedule.

vRS & Polo GTI are just the same.

Spoiling 'vrskeiths' thread.  Sorry.

I've had a new engine fitted 600 miles ago. I got a new rapid with free insurance and fuel. Did the car in 5 days. No invoice on what the car had replace but they did say it was a new engine with the same engine codes on it so the dvla don't need to know about the engine replacement. Also they put all my old things back on the engine apart from new oil, filter and coolant. Checked the oil now a few times and no movement yet. Cars got to go back in at 1500miles just for a check up, that's it, that's all I know. No extanded warranty I did ask tho.

Same experience here too

New engine 500 miles ago, car now out of warranty and no extended warranty offered. Not told whether I needed to inform DVLA or not.

I got an invoice of work done but can't make head nor tale of it.

Had a courtesy car with full tank for 5 days.

Touch wood, new engine hasn't noticeably used any oil so far. To be honest, I'm just happy its all sorted. If anything goes wrong now I'll be straight back on to them for 'good will'

Burnt valve at 22k (car under 8 months old) whilst driving through Belgium from UK en route to Germany.

Skoda Assist sorted out a hire car although took them about 10 hours from breakdown to picking up hire car (no charge).  SUK in touch next working day and continued to do so every couple of days although I had good comms from the garage in Belgium.

New full engine, cat and turbo as they couldn't be sure where the bit of valve went.

5 working days turnaround.

SUK gave the car a once over (asked local dealer to do it) just so they were happy - Aircon needed a top up but that was it.

Not a heavy oil drinker to start with, so I didn't get stuck in that rut.

11 plate and the engine changed at 16535 and still under warranty till august.i might ask about extended warranty closer to the date. No did not request cat change but I did ask about the oil in there they said it'll blow out. Also cleaned the exhaust tips and no oil on them anymore.

Ant,

Think that you will be leaving your request to late .

Also, again dealer employee giving Customer the fob off answer, relating to the Cat. Ask them to undertake the manufacturer test of product, if they are so sure that it will "blow off"

Always get it in writing and or on your cars warranty record for follow up with Skoda Technical Dept.

Phil,

No explanation for the burned out valve then?

How many miles have you put on the new engine. Was it a CAVE or CTHE unit? What unit have you now and how is it performing consumption wise.

No explanation on the valve.  Originally a CAVE unit (July 2012 registered car and had it from new) and as far as I can tell, so is the replacement (still has CAVE written on the ECU).  35k on the replacment.  Original engine used maybe a couple of litres in that 22k, new one maybe a litre between services (on variable, so every 18-19k).  Much to George's annoyance  :giggle:  I rely on the low level light to tell me if it's low and fill up with half a litre if the light comes on.  No messing about.
