Agree 100% I am awaiting his call. All relevant correspondence have been grouped together and can be posted out apparently. But yea a record of everything I have done would have helped. So would receipts for 35litres of oil!

When I called him today ,he so say had 60 cases on his desk- guess that they were not  all Fabia vrs Engine replacement but who knows!

 

AND THERE MIGHT HAVE BIT A LITTLE EXAGERATION on his part.

His reason was an excuse for not getting on top of my case, because of his high workload. 

Looking for sympathy.

Individual defence mechanism when under pressure- I'm sure we have all been there or perhaps Boss you are a lucky one.

I'm currently as we speak starting the process, bought the car out of warranty! However I think the fact skoda knew there was a problem gives them very little right to tell me they can't do anything! 20,000 miles on a 60 plate, oil consumption test sorted today, told to do 188 miles (300k) for them to test so had no choice but to do that tonight as I have to travel 300 miles for work Monday. Will get results tomorrow, waiting for them to say 'there's no problem' if they dare say that after 9 litres to 7,000 miles I will not be best pleased.

Will give an update when I know what's happening!

Did you buy from a Skoda dealer? Do you have any documented evidence that they were aware of a problem with your particular car when they sold it? If so, you should certainly contact Trading Standards.  Sounds like a nightmare situation, good  luck

If the car had any warranty work such as an Oil Consumption test previously that is good.

 

But not really that important now,  but it does make it so much easier and quicker,

because Skoda/VW are fully aware of the faults from their Parts & Manufacturing and the failures within the 1,800

1.4 TSI Twincharger CAVE engine cars.

 

** SKODA UK HAVE ALL THE DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE AND TECHNICAL INFORMATION ON THESE ENGINES THAT ANY COURT WILL EVER NEED IN THE UK,

 

ANY SOLICITOR WILL REQUEST THE TECHINCAL INFORMATION HELD BY VW/SKODA ON THE ENGINE FAULTS, & THEIR ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS, TESTING, AND HOW THEY CAME UP WITH BREATHER PIPE/VALVE MODS. ECU UPDATE, ETC.

THEY KNEW OF THE FAULTS STARTING BACK WITH THE SEAT CUPRA 1.4 TSI FIRST SOLD IN 2009

& THEN THE EARLY vRS FROM JUNE/JULY 2010 on.**

 

Out of Original Manufacturers Warranty or not they have to address the Faulty Manufacturing from 2010-2012.

They did nothing to address any problems or check engines during their time in the Original Manufacturers Warranty.

Yet they knew to Revise the Engines Mid-Late 2012.

They just left the cars built and sold to be brought in for Breather Pipe/Valve Mods and ECU Updates as people complained, then still messed them about.

 

They will look at the Servicing Schedule and if the ECU has had a remap etc.

But you still will have redress against them,

They know the failure rate among totally standard cars/engines.

 

So Skoda UK Customer Services first, and if no satisfaction, Trading Standards, & if needs must,

an Independent Vehicle Engineeers Report on the Engine, and get Legal Advice.

Many garage senior mechanics in dealerships would admit to it, off the record, but their livelihood is dependant on the franchise so never in writing with them.

 

They know the bully threat, from the parent is in the background!

I'm quite lucky that one of my mates is a skoda specialist so if it comes down to the wire I'll go for an independent specialist engineering report and trading standards. I've got the test results coming back at about 4. Will keep you guys posted!

get a copy of the test results, that could be important if there is an error in the testing

sorry guys may be posted in the wrong section but was just having a read of the posts and my oil light comes on when my dipstick is basically reading pretty much empty so i dump 1ltr in this takes to just above half the hatched section on the dipstick but its like clockwork every month near to pay day on comes the light in goes another liter and go on to the next month would you guys say this is knackered, spoke to local dealers a while back and they told me basically if hey run there oil test and it turns out fine its around £250 charge for the work, though i have learnt recently this dealership isn't actually worth a t**s.

I had to pay for nothing but the oil. £250 for you to drive your car a certain amount of miles and then them to weigh the oil is absurd!

 

I had my results back which came back even worst than expected!

 

2.9 Litres / 1000 miles! im now in the process of where to go next with skoda who first want copies of all my service history. I feel they're just trying to stall and are delaying the inevitable.

That is their way we have all been through that process.

 

Surprised they made you pay for the oil for the test ,especially as it is a failure and  therefore a Skoda problem not your.

 

Request a goodwill many back for this.

 

Don't forget to keep all your receipt for oil since the problem was noted,as Skoda uk are reimbursing customers for that.

 

Your situation is more complex than mine was, but my dealer immediately ordered the New Recon engine that day.

I think it is important to be firm with these people if they are reluctant to help. They will walk all over you given the opportunity. Go straight to the top to get your voice heard.

 if you are having a Yellow Oil light or Low Oil Warning come on,

i doubt that putting in 1 litre has 3.6 litres in your engine. Maybe only 3 litres.  

You need to do a Hot check, if the Cold Check is below the top of the Cross Hatch IMO.

 

How many miles do you do in a month before the light is on again.?

its roughly around 500-600 miles a month then on comes the big amber oil light on the display within a few days of each pay day, but the 1 litre is throwing me because when that light comes on i check the dipstick and the ball on the end just has a slight drip on thats a warm check then after dumping in the litre its just over half the hatched section it should be due to come on soon when it does ill snap some shots.

Just park the car on the flat, and dip it with Stone Cold Oil,

that is not after an hour or so,

best do it after not using it overnight.

 

If it is golden clean oil you should see it easier on the dip stick Stone Cold,

see where it is.

 

If you are doing a Hot Dip, you will need to go 15 miles or so and the Oil to an indicated 80*0C or more.,

stop and dip after 4-5 minutes.

I first started putting 1 litre in when the orange light come on but i was get 300 miles tops to this litre so i started making sure it was full. i put 1.6 litres in then within 300 miles the orange light was back on this is when I thought 'enough is enough'

 

I will be pushing skoda a lot further when I get back from work friday. show them the service history and demand this moves quicker!

I spoke with my local dealers master technician today. He said he had completed 33 engine replacements at that particular garage, him being the only one there who does it.

To me that seems a high number for just one pretty small garage. The national figures I can only assume are staggering.

A member here with a vRS out of Warranty but with an Extended Warranty has been told just this week,

by a person in Skoda UK's Technical Team.

 

The problems with the engines is not as bad as made out on the internet. it is being hyped out of proportion.

 

"The Internet has blown it out of proportion."  was the words used i think.

 

So out of 1,800 CAVE vRS sold in the UK 2010-2012

Maybe Skoda UK can say how many engines have been replaced and how many with replaced engines have required a second replacement engine.

 

Then how many of the 1,200 Ibiza, 1,200 Polo & the 500 A1 1.4 TSI Twinchargers,

 

The People to ask are,

Oil usage isnt just limited to twinchargers.

My Dad got shot of a frankly gorgeous A5 Sportback 2.0 TFSi SE just before its 3rd birthday because it was burning a litre of oil every 300 miles. He had oil consumption problems with an A3 1.4 TFSi S line he had before it too.

These issues are fairly common across all of the VAG group with TSI engines I think.

Oil usage might be common on other engines, but using up to 0.5 litres in 621 miles is not an issue.

 

but the 1.4 TSI 132-136 kW issue is leading to plugs oiling, plugs failing in 1 cylinder that is being over fueled.

Piston rings failing, cylinder wear & valves burning out, and compression lost in engines.

 

How many of the many thousands of 2.0 TSI/TFSI engines produced are being replaced.?

Fair shout but the oil problem wasnt getting any better and the car had done approx 30k miles at the time.

I bet in due course it'll end up blowing and needing a new engine.

Having had a Fabia vRS for 18 months/11k miles that gave me no engine trouble other than a high rev misfire issue (that was fixed by an ECU update) and 50% of that time on 95 RON fuel not everyone experiences issues but now my car is 3 years old wondering if its new keepers have experienced any problems.
