Coding / Adaptation Help required

Recommended Posts

No it isn't.

A5 is the lane assist camera.

20 is the stand alone high beam assist camera

Sorry!

But strange. I could not find the A5 when changing activation speed. Found it under 20. Must have missread something.

Edit: Ah! Probably because I only have the stand alone hba camera.. Sorry for the confusion.

I would need help with coding of HBA.

I followed complete procedure described in this post. Everything coded correctly, there is a menu in Car Settings, and also the sign on MaxiDot appeared. But when I turn it on I get a Fault code. Full auto scan showed fault codes on two modules: 09 and A5 (they were listed as malfunction).

In 09 these two fault codes appeared:

2 Faults Found:
534549 - Databus
          U1121 00 [008] - Missing Message
Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
             Freeze Frame:
                    Fault Status: 00000001
                    Fault Priority: 6
                    Fault Frequency: 1
                    Reset counter: 106
                    Mileage: 3850 km
                    Date: 2014.12.01
                    Time: 08:46:47
535060 - Databus
          U1123 00 [009] - Received Error Message
Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
             Freeze Frame:
                    Fault Status: 00000001
                    Fault Priority: 6
                    Fault Frequency: 1
                    Reset counter: 66
                    Mileage: 3850 km
                    Date: 2014.12.01
                    Time: 08:47:40

But strange, in A5 there was no fault code listed.

The car is not VRS but it has bixenon AFL lights without LED DRL and Lane Assist and it is 1 month old.

Any ideas how to approach this problem and what to check?

I have already checked that and there are only three options:

  • Halogen without HBA
  • Bixenon without HBA
  • Bixenon with HBA

Can you point me to the direction where I should look? Or what to test?

Revert all of your coding changes and do them again - I had the same happen on a vRS when trying to correct Ben@Sharks attempt at enabling it. Ben had done everything correctly but it didn't work.

I reverted it all back to standard and did it again and it worked. Make sure the lights and auto wipers are turned to OFF, the ignition is on and the doors are all closed whilst doing it. Turn the ignition off and remove the key and wait for the maxidot to go to turn off in between accessing each controller. It might also be worthwhile resetting the lighting settings to factory default in the infotainment unit once you have reverted all of the changes to make sure everything is in sync.

I haven't come across a car yet that it can't be enabled on, assuming they have the correct hardware, which may be your issue. I have enabled it on very late 2015MY cars (BW40 onwards) and it has worked.

Thx, I will try this. I already did full factory reset for all settings after coding, but I will try this also between coding and before I start coding again. I have already reverted all the settings.

Anyway, below are details of 09, 55 and A5 modules. I would appreciate if you could compare them with your latest Octavia? Especially part nr. of xenon lights. Thx.

  • 2 weeks later...

It seems I need some help.

I have HBA from the factory (and no lane assist).

I wanted to set it more sensitive.

I altered Analysis 51 and 52 many times with VCDS.

Finally I found a reasonable setting. I left the value 20 unchanged and changed the value 3 to 5.

A happy story so far.

Today my car went in to the dealers for a warranty repair: interior mirror change because of self-dropping.

On the way home I realised that HBA didn't work.

I still have the symbol on dash, no error message...etc...it simply didn't switch to high beam even in full darkness.

And the next thing is weird: at home I connected my laptop and checked the values...and the lower value was 3 (like from the factory).

I did set it to 5 last time. The evidence is the log file. I'm sure as I noticed increased sensitivity.

I changed it back to 5 again and tested. Nothing. :(

What has happened?

Resetting the lights/mirror settings in infotainment didn't help.

I also tried ticking/unticking the light assistant tickbox in infotainment.

And tried covering the camera with my hands while driving (I'm not sure this will activate the HBA instantly...anyone can check it for me? Thanks.)

Any ideas...?

Have they connected the camera again after having the mirror assembly off?

Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

Can I check it somehow witch VCDS?

And why did the previously programmed value changed back to the factory setting...?

I removed the plastic covers and the connectors are connected. I pushed them a little bit.

Tonight I'll test it again and if it's still don't work: back to the dealers :(

I don't know if the camera was part of the new mirror or they fitted the old one...

Could be a new camera? Does the serial number come up the same as before in VCDS?

Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

I was curious and removed the connector of the camera.

I got an instant error message on dash after switching on HBA.

So the problem seems to be s/w related :(

I will do an autoscan again and compare the data with the previously saved.

OK, autoscan comlete.

All data was the same except coding!

(The module doesn't have s/n.)

And I found 4 error code(s).

The first one was about "control module not coded" and the others were "function restricted...blabla".

After clearing the codes the first one always came back after activating HBA.

Finally I recoded the module with the original code from the factory.

Now the fault code doesn't appear again with activating HBA.

Just an hour and I can test it.

I wanted to code my LED DRLs to switch off completely while indicating.

With this coding:

---

DRL led light bar dimming when indicating

(16)Leuchte2SL VLB10-Lichtfunktion G 2 from "not active" to "Blinken links aktiv beide Phasen

(18)Leuchte2SL VLB10-Dimmwert GH 2 from “0” to “35” (20 or less will disable the light bar during indicating) Mine is set to 30

(19)Leuchte2SL VLB10-Dimming Direction GH 2 from "maximise" to "minimize"

(16)Leuchte3SL VRB21-Lichtfunktion G 3 auf "not active" to "Blinken rechts aktiv beide Phasen

(18)Leuchte3SL VRB21-Dimmwert GH 3 from “0” to “35” (20 or less will disable the light bar during indicating) Mine is set to 30

(19)Leuchte3SL VRB21-Dimming Direction GH 3 from "maximise" to "minimize"

---

I used dimmwert "0" and it works but after 20-30 secs of indicating I always get an error message on dash "check left/right daytime running light".

I tried dimmwert values from 0-23: the result is the same (disabled DRL + error message)

24 is OK (no error message) but the brightness is about ~20%...

Experts, any idea..? How to code it without error message?

I have to correct myself. It looks that A5 is not present also under Electronics 2.

Do a full autoscan (and save it for backup, though adaptation channels are not included) before doing anything and then also A5 will be visible under Control Modules.
