oil on drive

Recommended Posts

Post new engine, my drive shaft oil seal has now failed on vrs and there is oil on my newish oil free drive.

Surely skoda uk need to do something as the oil will not come off. Im being told a new drive, will only fix the issue.

Ive email skoda with pictures lets see what happens.

Any thoughts guys.

I was going to say it is just bad luck/coincidence that the driveshaft oil seal has failed, but after reading your other thread, I'm not so sure. Unless you can show that the dealer damaged the oil seal when changing the engine, your out of luck. In that case, it would ultimately be down to the dealer, not Skoda UK. Dealers are separate companies that are not owned by Skoda UK. Skoda UK tend to stay out of most consequential loss claims and they rarely succeed.

There will be little trouble showing the hashy job done be the Dealership Workshop.

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/322966-dripping-and-hissing-sound

It really is time for a Independent Specialist Report on your Vehicle.

Trading Standards will help Arrange that if Skoda UK are not going to have a Competent Master Technician Inspect your car,

& Skoda Arrange it Transported to be Properly Repaired.

As to the Drive,

this happened recently with another Member.

You let the Dealer Principal know about the situation and leave him to arrange a Specialist to come clean your driveway.

Photos & if Required Estimates need kept, the Trading Standards can include this in the Case you raise if required to do that.

Or you make an Insurance Claim and allow your Underwriter to claim off the Dealerships.  They know what they need to do,

sort out their errors, and get their act together.

No, have Skoda UK arrange collection of the vehicle & transportation to Milton Keynes, & the Specialist Technical Team to inspect it.

There are too many Dealerships covering the various mistakes at other Dealerships,

& Dealership Groups with Master Techs & Technicians doing poor jobs in Various Workshops.

The Number of Replacement Engines done in the 2,800 UK cars is amazing,

the number that failed is a scandal, the number of Replacements that failed is just unbeleivable.

Engine oil disappears (breaks down in time when exposed to UV light (sun) without a trace. It is not that difficult when you lve in a sunny part of the world and go to work everyday so sun can operate on the stain.

If you do not want to wait just get concrete saw from a hire shop, cut out the stained patch, drill in rebar dowels into side of the hole and pour in new concrete of the same spec as your driveway. If it's made of paving blocks replace those.

It is likely that engine swap caused the failure but hard to prove beyond reasonable doubt. You'd need exact data on this type of failures and statistically prove there is a link between engine swap and drive shaft failure - find as many cases like yours as possible to stand any chance of getting anywhere with the dealers.

Unbelievable got my car back after suspect drive shaft oil seal replacement which my dealership assured me the problem has been 100%. Ive drove 7miles got home and can still hear something dripping onto at hot exhaust as before. Are my dealership complete muppets or what!!!!

see if you can get a video of the dripping substance and contact the dealer by email including a copy of the video and also copy in Skoda UK, you could also include all paperwork you have stating the issue has been fixed.

Skoda uk are aware of the issue and so is the dealer 20mins after picking the car up. im gonna trial it put some miles on it and see if it leaks and hopefully finsh running the engine before it goes back to the dealer.

Ive asked skoda uk about sending it to milton keynes but apparently its the dealer who has to make that decision.

I dont want the car anymore really i have no confidence the car will ever be right. To the point when i pick it up the dlrs where left on wthout the key in. If they cant even turn the lights off properly what chance do i have. I have no confidence at all in the dealer

Which other Dealership is going to pick up now and sort out that Dealerships Incompetent Workmanship.

Have Skoda UK Deal with it, they are the ones that are Responsible for the Manufacturers Warranty, and they Franchise Dealerships,

They can not keep just ignoring Workshops in Dealerships that can not Carry Out Warranty work in a competent manner.

The Dealership in the case were not even capable of changing the Spark Plugs in the Original Engine, then things just kept getting worse from then on.

Skoda uk are aware of it and are dealing with my case. ive been told to put a few miles on it and check to see if the issue is still apparent. Its either still leaking oil onto the down pipe or coolant. But my coolant hasnt changed. plus now the belly pan is all clean from oil i ll wait a see if that begins to drip on my drive again. If there is no oil it would suggest coolant still causing the hissing sound. Ie when you pop the bonet the sound it makes is best described as the noise you would get from dropping drips of oil or water onto a red hot ceramic cooking hob. A intermittant hiss as the liquid touches the hot exhsust. As soon as i got home a popped the bonet the noise was there as if someone was doing a fry up under there. God knows how the dealer missed that.....

Well mine has the normal hum from the secondary coolant pump running after the engine is off for a good 5 mins or so. But this is aswell as that noise its an intermittant sizzle sound as if something ia occasionally dripping onto a very hot surface. Is this the same as what you guys are experincing? my coolant level seems fine but i suppose a small leak may take a number of miles to show up as a level drop.

Also since my new engine the coolant is getting upto 90 deg quicker than before. I suppose thats helped by the weather.

Mightcbe they overdid grease somewhere, it "melts" and drips? Don't know really as this so unusual! Normally if engine is "dripping" something that something is coming from somewhere and one could see it missing...

Also, if no other problems than hissing and nobody can find it then perhaps pit miles on the new engine and monitor the situation is the best option.

W

P.S. When you looked at the catalyst/turbo and down pipe there were no weird stains/could not see anything dripping?
