Few questions about 1.9 tdi mk2

well i only had a 15 amp tryed that and it worked however took it out now and will get a 20 tomorrow and smack it in

 

find it so stupid that there is a paper there telling  you what fuse is where and it doesn't say what fuse should be in there -_- 

 should be 25 amp for the rear window heater

Is there any sort of format that has all the fuse locations, names and fuse rating bacuase this is just driving me up the wall -.-

Car got serviced today but kind of annoyed the mechanic didnt use the STP engine flush, however swapped the flush for some injector cleaner,

New sump fitted oil an air filter dun aswell,

Need to put the under tray on aswell

1st of all i used a volkswagen specialist, he didnt put the tray back on because it wasent on in the 1st place, he chucked it in for free as he had one on the side

2nd yes i know its is a 10year old car however it was not a incompetent mechanic because if you look on the forum it is a common fault with this model

and it was just something i said i wouldnt of bought the car if i didnt know history behind it

And i have a 1.9 pd 105

I mentioned the 2.0tdi because of the common faults onit if u read carefully

And i didnt say it is very bad, i said that these new ENGINES are worser compared to the old engine from mk4 golf personal opinion everyones entitled to 1 are they not?

And i also said the 2.0 tdi being the worst engine as they have the injector problems i heard about and some with the electric hand brake an so on

I have a 2.0tdi and have now serviced it myself 3 times draining the oil through the sump drain and putting in a new sump plug, all without cross threading anything. I guess my car is one that just isn't susceptible to these common issues.

Injector problems = PD170 on vRS models, and as Mike said, replaced for free.

Any idiot can cross thread a sump plug on any make car, probably due to not using a new one each time as you are supposed to.

No electric handbrakes on Skodas.

 

The 1.9PD is a bulletproof engine as long as you service it correctly, with the correct oil. Did you replace the fuel filter at this service as well, worth doing at each service for the £10 they cost.

Completely understand where you comming from bud, and yes i have seen alot of hi millage octavia's which is one of the reasons that made me buy one

Out of curiosity how much mpg do you guys average on your 1.9 105 tdi?

Iv been averaging around 40/45 45 being the most, one day i did average 55 have no idea how as i was driving the same,

Maybe the injector cleaner will make a difference. Hmmmmmm …

Yep, the filter gets black from soot getting in to the fuel as a result of the PD engine design. Changing the fuel filter regularly is a no brainer really. I did mine on the PD140 at every service, and at 180k it was still going strong.

 

Don't succumb to variable servicing, stick to every 12mth or 10k, clean oil is essential for the longevity of the PD engines.

Hmm i think ill get the fuel filter changed and will definatly look in at the brakes as car has been standing alot in its life

Regarding fuel i always use shell v power regardless of make or model, just for peice of mind

You are better off with standard shell and a dose of Miller's additive.

Thinking of changing the air filter on my car dont wont a standard one has anyone put a piper cross panel filter in or anything along them lines?

Or are they useless? Opinions please

Some have done it with no real gains to the engine. I would stay standard if it was mine.
