Anyone know who is selling my old fabia?

Recommended Posts

Seen on gumtree for £5000 [emoji23]. SF55YNS. I traded it in 2 weeks ago needing quite alot of work done to it so if anyone on here is considering it ill tell you what to check on it. I thought i was lucky getting £2200 trade in for it. Advert says 99000 miles. Was on 101000 when i traded it in [emoji19]

Not much point clocking it by 2k is it, or is it the principle of being a 2 digit number in the thousands?

I think that's it, some people see a car as getting on a bit when it's over 100k.

They could only clock it back to the last MOT anyway.

It was traded into fiskens in forfar and they put it to auction. Well i was being a bit nosey and text the guy and asked to make sure and he said 99 thousand. Theres an odo thread on here that i posted it hitting 100000 so hopefully it hasnt been clocked. Also they mustve remapped it. I was going to keep it and do that but was told by the specialists the clutch wouldnt last

It has to have been clocked, but a mileage check on VCDS will confirm the real mileage.  I did this on one briskodian's car to find it had around 10k knocked off it I think.  Probably one reason why it ended up being broken for spares. :D

If you have the cars details still,

just wait till they get it sold and have put a 12 month MOT on it,

then go on the DVLA checker and see what mileage it was MOT'd at.  If you can be bothered that is.

Someone buying that car will probably end up on here in the future.  It will be interesting to see what they get for it.

If he has the VIN and inputs it will show the MOT Mileage when tested next week or next month when they have a buyer and get the ticket.

Im considering just going down for a look out of curiosity. I asked what exhaust was on it. He told me a full miltek. In the pictures i can still see the ripspeed halfords tip we welded to a bit of land rover stainless then to the standard pipe. All seems too dodgy to me :(. My poor baby. Chances are they will end up on here as it still has the brisky sticker on it :)

I know how you feel. It's such a shame when your old pride and joy ends up in the hands of a tit. I traded in my 406 coupe when I got the Octavia. Had 11 months MOT and 4 months tax. Just been serviced, I found it on ebay last week being broken [emoji22]

You have to be a "special type of salesman" to sell used cars, be a master wordsmith to enable punters to be sucked in to their confidence and not question all the uncertainties of a cars history or condition. They may not have clocked the car but could just point out upon inspection that it was "used by a member of their staff who enjoyed it so much he took it on holiday and racked up the extra miles" thus implying that the car is good to drive, desirable and reliable. The 99k listing could be just to get the punter interested. I cannot ever recall being able to totally believe any garage staff, there always seems to be a hidden agenda, it is a shame. It would be nice to find an honest one although they have probably all gone out of business.

Well after two months with my leon we just didnt bond. So my dad offered me his corsa sri (1.6 turbo :-) ) and he has taken the leon. Im going to run the corsa for winter to save some money and hopefully can pick up a really clean lowish mileage fabia again beginning of next year. Miss mine alot not even a 300 bhp leon could make up for it :o. If anyone is thinking about getting rid of or knows anyone in afew months give me a shout. Cheers folks
