Question on availability of CV Joints Fabia MK2 vRS, have you had fitted recently?

Recommended Posts

Just out of interest, and maybe someone that has had a recent experience can answer.

Have you required replacement CV Joints on a Mk2 Fabia vRS, 1.4 TSI CAV / CTHE, and was there any issues with the Supply of them,

or a parts desk at the Dealer or Motor Factor saying 'Not Yet Available' because that was what the Screen showed.

Did the parts arrive OK after lots of humming and haying.

cheers

George

Any help appreciated please.

Not for myself,

my Local Motor Factor can get me CV Joints, Bearings or Hubs for a Twincharger vRS.

But someone else with a vRS is getting a price from a Skoda Dealer,

but because the Computer screens shows, 'Not Yet Available', the Outer CV Joint is not available at Motor Factors he has checked with.

So has anyone needed a Drivers Side CV for a 1.4 TSI CAV / CTHE S-A,  and how much did it cost them, did you get it from a Skoda Parts Desk..

cheers.

Not entirely relevant but:

I work for a very small motor factor and we don't list a single thing for the VRS, upon entering the reg number you get a list of parts for the 1.4 mpi fabia which clearly are completely different.

This could and probably is causing issues for people needing parts now and in the future because they're simply going to get the "computer says no" response.

Goneoff

Are you sure you need a CV joint?

Has it just started clicking?

Most times 9/10 I have removed the joint, washed out, refill with new grease (fill the joint right up from the inside) Md proper stuff.

Run it for a few days & all well.

Always fit a new boot kit.

I am sure that i do not need a CV joint.

But i have previously, and had no difficulty getting it, the problem is Parts suppliers saying they can not get them and that they are not available.

Skoda say they can supply though, and at a rather higher cost than they can be got for.

The question is for someone that does need one though, and knows that it is needed, and it is not just a case of repacking.

Hopefully he has now managed to source one.

Its me who needs it not George. Its getting done in friday because it needs doing quickly and I as I cant source the part I need I have had to go to skoda and get it. At a much higher cost than one would expect a cv joint to cost. I have 2 days basically to source one from somewhere else.

Outer joint part number is 6R0 498 099A ( or 6R0 498 099AX for an exchange one)

Inner joint part number is 1K0 498 103A ( or 1K0 498 103AX for an exchange one)

The part numbers are different from every other Fabia II model. And no matter which model they're ^£"*%$ expensive from Skoda.

  • 1 year later...

While changing front break pads yesterday,08/10,the mechanic noticed a split boot which they replaced no problem, without the paperwork to hand I think it was £17:00 plus labour. They measured the old one and ordered by dimension. The old one was more plasticky than neoprene !
