boot release catch

There are 4 screws - two in the warning triangle holder, and one each in the handle cutouts in the trim.

After that, I think it just needs a strong tug - there are a series of 10 or so clips around the edge.  You might break a clip or two off the trim panel - they can be glued back later if required.  Ideally you would have access to the edges of the trim (ie with the boot open) and then you could use a pry tool to release the clips in a bit more controlled fashion...

At the edge of the trim where the lock is located the trim goes over the two rubber bump stops, so you might find it difficult to remove the trim completely if the boot is shut.

The ones in the handles are quite hard to see even with the boot open - they are right at the bottom of the handle recess and at a bit of a funny angle.  They are definitely there though, unless someone has already had them out...! :)
