Best Colour for Yeti Elegance Outdoor

I have just ordered a Yeti Elegance Outdoor in Candy White, which I think looks stunning..... However today I washed SWMBO's white Pug 2008 and it brought back memories of washing the flies off the front of my white land rover which at times looked like a Dalmatian (spotty dog)!

I have the opportunity to change the colour. I know silver is a great standby but have had several in that colour. Does it look boring? I'm leaning towards Jungle Green Metallic but the question of safety (visibility) has been raised having a green car on country roads. Cappuccino is a possibility but not having seen it "in the metal" does it look a bit drab?

I thought I'd ask members of the forum who have these colours what their views are.

I used to say to my salesmen, when it was in the trade, a used car is easier... One choice.. Yes or no!

My preference is Jungle Green, but if I was blessed to have a L&K it would most defo be the Choc magnetic metallic ( look at the photos of Dinski,s in the Style section).

Personally, I love the coppery bronze colour, but SWMBO says that she wants a yellow one, but they don't do it in the UK!!

My previous Yeti was silver, current one is Candy White which I really like and suits the Yeti. But if I get another Yeti I think it would be Jungle Green.

I hink you will find the answer to your question is in the brochure. Manufacturers have a habit of showing the vehicle in its best light, or colour for this matter, in the brochure. The City is shown in white, and I love mine, whilst the Outdoor is in Jungle Green Metalic. The later would have been my choice if I wanted the rufti tufti looks of the Outdoor.

 

You mention about washing a white car. My first two cars were white and I always wanted another. Whether clean or dirty I think a white car looks clean. It is only when you wash it that you notice, as the dirty water runs off. Dings should be less noticeable due to the lower paint pigment, and stone chips likewise as the primer is I believe light in colour. Just my opinion mind.

Personally I think Moon White metallic looks best, black by far the worst. It needs a bright colour to do the design justice IMO.

The other question is..... Has anyone got the pale sand colour leather interior..... Not on a white one... I think it would have to be black. ... But having had a pano sunroof on my Tig I wonder if the black leather might make the interior look rather dark.

First white car for me, funnily enough only looks dirty when I start to wash it Wouldn't hesitate to have another one.

If you're going for white, go moon white. It looks fantastic when it's clean. When it's a bit grubby it looks like clean candy white. 

 

If deviating from white I'd go magnetic brown metallic, then metal grey.

My Classic Yeti is Regency Green (a dark-ish metallic green) and it seems to hide the dirt pretty well. I also was a bit worried about it being "lost" in shadows and under trees but it hasn't been a problem over the 18 months I've had it and of course daylight running lights have made a big difference in terms of visibility to other drivers.

 

I've got the sand interior and I was concerned I might regret it (I've got a sunroof so a black interior was an option) but so far it seems to have been very hard-wearing and it's not marked or stained so I'm very happy with it.

My pre-fl is Candy white and looks great imo. If I was in your shoes, I'd be happy with either white or Jungle green. I was behind an Outdoor in Jungle green this morning and I was most impressed. Very sharp suit, much brighter and snazzier looking in the flesh than it looks on the SUK website.

Thanks for the many replies to my post. I ordered white initially as I thought it looked stunning but I do find the midgies in the North East of England seem to fly at one heck of a speed and flatten themselves on my bonnet! I'm off to the dealership to have another look at colours "in the metal" as opposed to the brochure and will make a final decision then.

I'm leaning towards Jungle Green or possibly Cappuccino (which is nearly the same as my Titanium Tig) but need to see one.

I was interested in Paul's comment about the sand interior still looking good after 18 months.... I think I'll definitely go for that..... I don't wear denim which is a noted problem raised on the VW forum, so that not an issue. Regarding cleaning leather, someone on the VW forum warms a damp cloth in the microwave and rubs over the seats which draws the dirt to the surface... Anyone tried this?

Yes I went with Gobi Sand Leather and love it, but I like a light interior. It goes better with the plastic trim colour you get with the Elegance and matches Jungle Green a treat.

I went with the consensus from the family and went Candy White.

My personal choice would have been Shark Blue but I couldn't get any enthusiasm for that from SWMBO or son.

 

Candy white does look bloody good when clean -and the quality of the paintwork is impressive, since 12,000 miles down the road there is no real signs of chipping or pitting. But agreed, it does take a bit longer to clean.

I just took delivery of an Elegance Outdoor in Cappuccino ( I really wanted light blue but they don't make them in that colour anymore).

It's not really a golden metallic colour, which I expected, it's more of a brownie greeny colour , in fact, if it hadn't been for the paperwork , I might have thought it was actually Jungle Green!!

I picked the colour from the brochure, but overall , quite happy. Ordered the black interior too, just to be on the safe side. It doesn't look distinctive in the slightest, but it's probably a safe colour.

At the end of the day , it's personal preference, good luck with your choice

Whichever way you go, you can always be content that you chose the correct vehicle to display your preferences on . The Yeti.

Well.... I've asked the midge population in the north of England to fly more slowly and not to flatten themselves on my bonnet....

So I'm going with my original choice of Candy White as that contrasted with the darkened rear windows looks stunning.

However I saw a Candy White ready for deliver with the sandy cream leather and it really brightened up the interior. So as I'm not going for the pano sunroof again, which brightened up the Tig interior, I've changed from black to Gobi Sand colour leather.

I did mention in an earlier post about heating up a damp cloth in the microwave to draw the dirt from the leather seats. I thought I'd try it on the Tig as it's going in part ex. I have cleaned the seats regularly and was surprise how much muck came off. The seats look great.

Whatever colour choice you make is a very personal thing. One thing I would advise though is to try to look at the car in as many variations of lighting that you can. Once you drive out of the showroom most colours look different.

The metallic colours in particular appear very different in changing light conditions. My previous Yeti was Muscovado and the current one is Jungle Green, Both tend to hide the dirt equally and if I had to choose between them it would be very difficult but the Jungle Green probably comes out top by a very short head.

I'm not worried about being camouflaged, the previous post about DRLs is correct, they make most modern cars highly visible.

We have not had any issues with visibility but no doubt the LED DRL’s front and rear (the dealer can activate the rears to come on with the front ones) certainly helps.

Candy white is the most complimenting colour for yeti!
