RE: Skoda alloys.

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I am new to the site and have a question regarding alloys.

I currently have a set of steel rims on my car (octavia). They are shod with the standard 196 /65? 15's.

I always felt that the standard alloys/ wheels looked small and lost under the Octavia when compared to other makers.

I want to fit alloys from a skoda Superb to my Octavia. The ones in question are the 16" Spectrum Alloy.

According to a online skoda eshop these Suberb alloys (7") are not recommended for the Octavia with the widest alloy being allowed 6.5"

The ET of suberb alloy is 5mm further out than the recommended alloy.

Will the superb alloy hit the panel of the car, will it even fit?

Please help all advice opinions greatly accepted.

George

PS: Dont want to fit anything larger then the standard 16's

The Spectrum alloy wheel has the following dimensions:

16x7" ET45

The Octavia vRS is fitted with the following wheel specs from factory:

18x7.5" ET51

The extra 0.5" = 12.7mm extra overall width. Or 6.35mm each side.

Therefore a 7" wide wheel with an offset of 45mm will look exactly like a 7.5" wide wheel with an offset of 51mm.

Short answer is the wheels will fit perfectly.

Hi S400DDS.

I follow your logic and it makes sense. Thanks.

Just one question is the VRS wheel opening/ brake rotor position the same as the standard 140 BHP Octavia.

George.

PS: Any more opinions on this as I want to get a consensus on this.

I ran 16x7.5" ET45 Audi rims with 225/55r16 tyres for about 70,000km. Fitted great, no rubbing, looked factory after I added some skoda emblems to the wheel centres.

The spectrums will fit fine - they'll probably still look lost though.

edit: You're overthinking it & asking too many questions. It will work.

Dumb question - why do they have to be alloys off a Superb? OEM style 16" are available from Golfs, Passats, Audis & Octavias.

As brad mentions the wheel you're looking to fit will be fine.

The brake caliper on the 140 TDi and 170 TDi are the same, just different distances away from the centre thus bigger brake discs on the 170 bhp.

You're car will easily fit the 16" wheel mentioned above. :)

I have a set of 17" Zeniths for sale in Cork. Let me know if you are keen.

Good man.

Thanks for the input guys. I like the look of the Spectrum alloys. Factory yet a bit more agressive under the arches.

I cover high milage and encounter many bad roads as a result wont be going for anything bigger than 16's.

16's here I come.
