What a difference a route makes

Went to visit a relative in Southampton today - roughly 68 miles each way.

 

Journey there this morning - 1 hour 40mins on A,B and Motorway roads - Maxidot average 44.4mpg

 

Journey home this afternoon - 1 hour 50mins on only A and B roads (different route altogether) - Maxidot average 52.6mpg

 

Journey home was much more pleasant than on the motorway this morning too - and a more involving drive!   :sun:

I used to find that I could get an indicated 50mpg going to work but only 45mpg coming back home.....................................

No - it was only in the Bitterne area - not far from the M27. Came home via Botley where there were roadworks though.

It sure is. Sparshatts Of Botley. So just two miles down the road from me. Nice and easy to get too
