fabia 1 vrs gearbox compatibility

new to briskoda but have been on here before, wondering if anyone could help me, I have a 2004 skoda fabia 1 with a busted gearbox (asz ENGINE CODE) will any 6 speed fabia 1 gearboxes fit mine just with slightly differing ratios as I have been offered one from a 2007 car for a good price and don't know whether to take him up on it at the risk it may not fit as that's the last thing I need! thanks in advance for any help!

if its off a fabia vrs pd130 yes

I believe the gearboxes are interchangeable.

 

They changed the gearbox after 54 plates to a much shorter box.

 

So you will find that your 6th is much shorter with the newer box.
