Hi I got a Columbus radio off ebay having fitted it the radio works but not through the steering wheel and it turns off on its own after 20 min I have not got the instructions  can any one help its in a yeti

Try this, https://mediaportal.skoda-auto.com/resource/documentation/manuals/en/Yeti/05-2011/Navigation/A-SUV_Yeti_Columbus_NavigationSystem.pdf

If it hasn't come from out of a Skoda then you may have trouble getting it to work with the MFSW, there is a fix which means downloading a small program off the internet which will alter the set up and get the wheel working.

The unit will turn off on its own if it thinks the ignition has been switched off, the signalling for this is sent over canbus. The lack of steering controls which are also managed through canbus suggests a can related problem. Have you correctly coded the Yeti for Navigation, and also the Columbus for the correct protocol. If you have not both problems could be a simple coding issue relating to the BAP protocol.

BAP protocol is the way the unit talks to the rest of the car basically, and the other option is called DDP. Your car will use one of the protocols, and the Columbus must be set to use the same format otherwise they don't communicate correctly.

You need someone with VCDS or the main dealers computer system to change the coding in the head unit to suit the cars communication protocol.

Depends what was in originally, and also depends what car the Columbus came out of. It is more or less plug & play physically, but the car needs to know it's got a sat nav unit if it didn't before, and the unit needs coding setting to suit the options in the car so that they all work.
