Fault code po299

Hi all... Very new to posting but have read a lot of post that look to be helpful but hoping if I'm more specific may help me out

Driving a superb 2005 1.9tdi pd with 106k and bought with 103k and for some time I've thought it to be sluggish

Was going to get remapped as was using a lot more diesel than I expect of a pd engine.

Before 2000rpm it is noticeable that get enough power and between gear changes unless I'm revving high, the change is not smooth as power drops again.. Occasionally on higher speeds goes into limp mode but undoes this after an ignition restarting.....

Was put on mates disgnostic and saying po299.... Under boost.

Have with MAF disconnected and no difference.

After all that..... Is my turbo done? Is there a way of checking fir sure if it is. Not really smoking etc. egr valve is not leaking

Any tips etc greatly appreciated

If your car is 2005 I think you will find it is a MK1.

 

Rotodiesel and others will be along soon as they are very knowledgeable people about these sort of problems.

While you are waiting for some informed advice, have you read the Ross-Tech Wki entry below for that fault code?

Yeah had read it cheers. I'm not overly knowledgeable on mechanics. Have been asking few mates on opinions and plan of action. Tomorrow gonna check vacuum pipes. Do you know if it actually still could b MAF even tho engine management is not on. Or if there a definite way of ruling out the turbo??

Check your hoses for splits
