Been talking to a company through email about development on the fabia vrs.

Today I can confirm that the car is booked in next year, the first week in January.

Well let you know how it goes.

About time. I have been looking for a new dump pipe for about 12 months and unfortunately what is available is overpriced crap or just plain crap.

Best of luck with the development.

I am ready to go stage 2 already but the only thing holding me back is the dump pipe. Even went to talk to someone with a good reputation about a custom dump pipe and after looking at the job in person he has gone quiet. The only aftermarket dump pipe that was made in Australia by HP Performance is now off the market as they are now the new distributors for Miltek in Oz.

If they need someone else to test their product I am available. First track outing for next year is Feb 1st and would really like to have stage 2 by then or not long after.

Brought and sold a Jetex dump pipe without even installing it as I was not happy with the quality of the welds (would cost too much for me to return from Australia).

like my milltek, although annoyed it's not actually a catback and more a rear box,

so come on who's doing it.

My old Ibiza was the test bed for Milltek when they did the mk4 exhaust, still has pics of it on their site from 10yrs ago.

I wouldn't have a milltek again with the problems I've had with mine. Ordered it and never lefted the box. Took it back and got my money back. They must have monkeys that work there doing the work.

Ok then the cat is out the bag. there is going to be another exhaust on the market for the mk2 fabia vrs to compete with the sh!tty milltek out there.

 and then there are some deviants around,  

i think i spotted a website or 20 when googling 'Dyno Rod'.

 

 It was supposed to be Dyno & Rolling Road i googled.

Talked to another exhaust place today about a custom system and to be honest I think the job is harder then they would like but at least they are willing to do the job right. If i had a good dump pipe it would be a easy good. But because it is a full tbe system I have been looking for reputations and then judging by their responses if I will push head.

i would be careful as when reading the design problem with 1.4 tsi's i came across this about turbo pressure to do with the exhaust "3. Turbo

The turbo is not necessarily an issue if it wasn’t for the known engine problems but there are 2 major features of this turbo that need consideration to avoid oil consumption.  

The oil seals of the turbo are designed to hold the oil inside the turbo around the bearing rather than it leaking down the turbo shaft to the turbine and impeller (2 wheels at each end of the shaft). These are designed and balanced perfectly to take into account the forces applied on them in both directions. The internal force on the seal is made by the heat expansion inside the bearing and the oil pressure flowing through it. On the other side there is back pressure. On the intake side of the turbo it is the air hitting the wheel and the force of compressing the air to send to the intercooler. On the exhaust side it is the back pressure of the downpipe, catalytic converter, cat back pipe and silencers.

One rule of thumb with a turbo engine is that the best sort of exhaust is no exhaust at all; and no exhaust = no back pressure. Thus after market exhausts deliberately try and minimize back pressure, resulting in the oil seal losing the pressure balance it once had. On a normal car this is not usually too much of a problem and the seal could potentially hold the oil in with minimal seepage, but together with the second feature of this turbo, it simply cannot.  

The second issue is the internal pressure inside the turbo. These turbos, as confirmed by their manufacturer, are designed with internal pressures of 40-60psi in mind. When measuring the actual pressure through the turbo even with a new engine it was found that it could raise to 70psi. This is because of the under piston oil jet system, which coats the pistons in clean cooler oil before they raise up into the bores for the next stroke. There are a few other manufacturers that have had similar problems.  

Now if you imagine the engine and pcv problems being present as discussed earlier with high internal pressures and no back pressures then it becomes a very serious issue.  

There is no SEAT solution to this problem as they don't want us to run sports exhausts to begin with, especially de-cat exhausts. I designed an oil restrictor bolt based on another VW variant. It has slightly smaller holes than the OEM one on the 1.4TSI and have I have logged the pressures at between 40-45psi. This results in a healthy internal pressure allowing a decat exhaust to be run safely with a healthy engine.

This is even more important to fit if you are using a hybrid turbo. The reason is the turbine wheel on the exhaust side is MUCH bigger and the housing has been bored out resulting in more flow but less back pressure. Thats great for performance but not good on the oil seal. For this reason, I have also had the oil seals strengthened in my hybrid turbo.  



Solution:
Custom oil restrictor (if running decat)
Strengthened oil seals (as part of the turbo hybridization process)

NOTE: LOBA270 has normal oil seals, and is not suited to a de-cat exhaust, despite what they say!"

I've wanted to put a different exhaust system on but heard it can cause issues.

 

The guy who remapped mine said he wouldn't advice it but that might of been just because of the extra noise it would be outputting. There is a custom exhaust fabrication place next to him so I'm sure he saw plenty of cars having them.

I have heard lack of back pressure can cause oil consuption issues due to the turbo design, as you detailed above....

 

edit: but then people are using aftermarket exhausts without oil issues.....

I ran my decat turbo back for 18 months with no oil issues whatsoever and even ran it on a standard engine.. not according to millteks stage 2 required but from the sounds of it I must've had one of the exhaust systems that didn't come out the factory which was made of chocolate?  :peek:

Right the day as come, I've been down to exhaust specialist called Cobra Sport exhaust in sheffield. There is going to be another exhaust on the market for the fabia vrs tsi.

It's will be full stainless steel T304 2.5 inches with I think four different tips to choose from and with lifetime warranty.

Hopefully it'll be on the market in March/April time that's what they've told me.

Also I've asked if they are interested of doing a group buy for the rest of you and hopefully getting some money off for you.
