Is there any way to increase the volume of the indicator repeater

WOW and blinky blimey - up, nest, stirred and hornets come to mind. Having been the cause of all this 'witty banter' I thought it only fair to explain why it appeared that I had ignored Grahams initial response back in September but before I do so, in a similar vein, did you hear about the bloke who went to collect his car from the garage only to be told that they didn't manage to cure the problem he was having with his brakes so they had increased the volume of his horn instead.

Right - Graham very kindly warned me off trying to fiddle with the Canbus system and suggested I talked to a dealer. I did and they were not sure so I contacted Skoda UK technical support and the message came back - "We think it may be possible but we don't know how. We suggest you talk to a specialist" That, quite frankly staggered me. Now, I originally posted my first question on the Yeti owners forum. Between then and now I had found the BRISKODA forum which seemed to me might just have specialists following it so I posted the question again. When seen in context I hope you can see there was no ignoring of advice, in fact quite the opposite. As for the suggestion to sort out my hearing aid those responses were about as useful as a rubber beak would be to a woodpecker.

And to the question of can I cope with wiring etc, attached is a picture of my Marlin Roadster that I built some 18 years go and, in which, I recently toured southern Sweden along with a number of fellow Marliners. The reason for even raising the issue (and ignore the lion - that's another story) is another indicator story. When I took it for it's inspection prior to putting on the road, there was no SVLC in those days, it simply had to pass an MOT and sadly it failed because the indicator lights were flashing too quickly. The reason being that then, the Sierra electrics that the car is based on used to flash rapidly to warn you that one of the bulbs had failed. I had fitted chrome torpedo lamps for the indicators and the bulbs were only 4w rather than the 21W that the ECU was expecting to see. I asked the MOT garage owner if he was prepared to suspend the test and if he had two Sierra indicator lamp holders and lamps. He had and I broke into the circuit and fixed them under the bonnet and luckily they did the trick bringing the blinkrate back into spec. The car passed and to this day the engine compartment lights up along with the indicators - quite interesting at night.

Two more things to cover. I haven't given up on getting a definitive answer and to that end I have put in motion a request to get some info. out of the engineering department in the Czech factory and if I get an answer I will post it here.

Lastly Graham, thank you for your seasons greatings - Google translate makes a decent fist of translating Welsh

Where do I obtain a wiring diaram for the Yeti (it must be available somewhere as folks have been discussing adding in towing electrics). Secondly, I  uploaded a picture along with the previous post but I obviously have to do something else as it didn't display

If lights for a trailer can be added without affecting the CAN-Bus system then I’m sure an electrician could do something with relays etc to enable extra loads like a louder indicator sounder without causing any problems. Taking an induced or very light load to operate a relay is my bet.

You can download the wiring diagram for your apecific car by accessing erWIN. You will need to register and then pay for access as and when you need to. The first link below gives an idea of what you can do and the second is for signing up to erWIN.

What?

The towing wiring EXTENDS the CanBus system and works with it, therefore it is "affecting" it.

For example the towing wiring extends the alarm and bulb failure system to include the trailer.

You're not reading what I put.

If a trailer system can be added why not something to include a load enough for a louder indicator sounder?

Graham!  You're at it again!!  Every time you break Forum rules and use a foreign different language I have to waste time boosting Google's profits!

Anyway - the same to you, young man, and I hope the hands are improving

My first car, a MK 2 Cortina, had a defective indicator stalk that wouldn't cancel. As I couldn't afford  to replace it, I learnt to always cancel the flasher manually after the manoeuvre. It's a habit that I still practice after forty years, returning the stalk to centre before it would have done so automatically. It also ensures that I don't unintentionally flash too long for a second turning close to the first.

keith - I also have a marlin berli welcome to the double club!

Hello Frenchtone,

It is nice to see there is someone else with the same taste. It is also interesting to see parallel membership types exist on this forum as do on the Marlin Owners Forum.

I have a question for you that is off topic so I wonder if you would contact me on [email protected]
