My last two have been christened Ellie..... Current one because it's an ELEgance and the previous one because it was an IS300 Limited Edition (LE)..... Although it's usually just called my car. :)

P.s.

Just curious but why do all your posts have bullet points for every sentence?

I have had Priscilla the Purple Probe, Saskia the Saab, Leila the Legacy, Molly the Mazda, Jerry the Jaguar and I am currently waiting for a name to settle on the Superb!

My wife has also had Percy the Puma, although her current car (a Mazda CX-7) is still called 'The Mazda' even after 3 years...

Current cars are Algie, Alan, Woof, Robin, Mog, and Tara. Lease cars I used to have for a few months rarely got names, but all others have had them, usually christened by my wife.

Algie also sometimes gets known as Super B because we find it funny that some of our European cousins insist that's what they are called. Alan the furby replaced Roomy recently, who often got called Roomy Roomy Roomy (said quickly followed by ah ah ah ah ah aaaaah).

Quite prepared to wear the pink suit......

Hi WaveyDavey,

  • At my age I do it so that I can easily check what I've just typed.
  • In a previous 'life' when working I did it to avoid any confusion or  potential misunderstandings of my missives by itemising what I intended.

Annie(versary) the Yeti - a special present to ourselves. Guess what we called the Nissan Terrano x xxx PEG?

Simon?

My Superb Estate is called USS Enterprise:)

Is that on account of its mileage? We used to have an LDV 400 with the same name. 640k on the clock, when it stopped going round, 2 years before we bought it.

I'm still struggling to come up with a name for my Silver Rapid Spaceback. I need ideas.

Past cars (not in order) have had various name:

Green Rover 75: The Tank

Gold Citroen C4: Michelle

White & Black Peugeot 106: The Penguin (as well as The Pug)

V8 S-Type Jag: The Rocket

Brown Austin Metro: The Rust Bucket

Rocer SD1: The Police Car

We have just named the Superb 'Bud' which I quite like.

My other car (a 1995 Caterham Supersprint) is called Wile (as in Wile E Coyote)

Superb Estate- The Tug- pulls the caravan

Volvo 122S- Ruby

Peugeot 205 auto- barsteward due to problems-and the shed for similar reasons.

Various permutations over the years due to registration numbers and finally "the crappy old banger" my wife's name for a Mondeo I bought to come here to France with, very unfair and cruel IMO.

Used to have a Land Rover series 3 which we called 'Bill'. I think it was one of our kids who gave it the name. Maybe FWF 540L is still out there somewhere.

I now own FWF 540L and I'm about to do Bill up as he is a bit tired.

WOW. Great to hear Bill is still going and about to have makeover. Believe it or not I sold Bill to Ian Gillam (yes - of Deep Purple fame), at the time he lived in Lyme Regis and the band had practice sessions in the original Musbury village hall. I used to get Bill looked after at Rousdon Garage when Kevin ran it as an independent Land Rover specialist - maybe he still does.

I'd love to see some pictures of before and after if you feel so inclined and you have the time to PM me.

I bought Bill from my mechanic in Colyton, he bought it from an archery range near Dunkeswell. The chassis is rotten and everything is tired as it has not been on the road for 10 years. I plan to put a new galvanised chassis on and repair replace everything to make it original again.
