fabia mk 1 electrical problem.

While driving abs, handbrake warning light and alarm come on. Sometimes power steering light as well and power steering goes. Radio goes quiet. My wife's car so potentially dangerous.

New battery needed or is it more Serious?

Help needed please!

Measure battery voltage directly across the connection posts before starting the car, and with engine running. Give us those numbers and we'll have a starting point for fault finding.

If you have a battery charger, take the battery off the car and charge it overnight before doing the above tests.

Hi this is my first post on this forum

 

Really hope this can make it as a great thanks for alle the years of lurking here.

 

I probably had a similar problem with my previous Fabia I. The battery was not charged and no red warning light to ... warn.

 

Very scary indeed.

 

The solution was quite simple and cheap, as adviced in this old topic from 2005:

On mine a socket under the battery was damaged, so the blue exciter wire was loose.

 

An easy fix by my mech, when I told him how-to from Briskoda.
