BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

twice now I have had 3 brake warning lights come on 2 orange, I red, red one flashes, accompanied by an audible beep. the send time they came on was after I had paid to have all 4 disks and pads replaced! lights go off when ignition turned off, and stay off for a while. any ideas please? its on a 2000 1.4 16v fabia. 68,000 miles fully serviced.

The brake warning light, the one that looks like this (!) is usually an indication of low fluid, so I would check that, it could also indicate a leak in the system. The people doing the discs/pads should have checked the fluid levels in fairness. The other two orange lights I'm guessing are the ABS and TC? This could be one of the speed sensors on the wheel, it will either be dirty and just need cleaning or the sensor itself will have packed up.

Either way I wouldn't be taking chances with your brakes pal, get it looked at ASAP.

I was tightening my handbrake using the bolt inside the car. When I was finished and took the car for a spin the brake light came on and the beeping started. I checked the brake fluid and it was OK. I loosened the bolt again to no avail. In the end it turned out I had accidentally dislocated the switch attached to the handbrake. Once I reattached it the beeping and brake light dissappeared.
