Issues with Yeti wing mirors

Recommended Posts

My friend has a 2013 Yeti

If she adjusts the passenger side mirror - all is well

If she tries to adjust the drivers side mirror - both mirrors move

her local dealership say its a well known issue but, don't seem to want to fix it

Any ideas ?

Chris

If you have a radio which also has the car settings there is a setting for mirrors, you can tick/untick a box so only the side you wish to adjust alters, the same can be done with a VCDS ( I think )  It's not a fault, it's a setting. Think the idea is so you can lower/raise both mirrors at the same time whilst reversing so you can see the curb

Maxidot might work ( if fitted )

It can be changed in Maxidot (if fitted) or with VCDS.

It just proves how little your dealer knows (or is prepared to help you with) as it is not a 'design fat' but an actual feature documented in the manual; synchronised mirror adjust (or very similar).

Is this not an option on the Maxidot?

From the manual.

Synchronous adjustment of the mirror
› Activate the synchronous adjustment of the mirror above the MAXI DOT display
in the menu item Mirror adjust. » page 47, Settings.
› Turn the knob for the mirror control to the position for the driver mirror adjustment.
› Adjust the mirror to the desired position.

Why would that be an option?

Because once you have adjusted for your stance and maximised rear vision for your driving preference you can easily adjust should you vary seat height or want to do some tricky reverse parking and change both mirrors temporarily.

Imagine the issues the senior tech in a multi franchise dealership has - having to know every option available on every model of every brand since 1s and 0s have taken over our lives.

Well he wouldn't have much dirt under his nails.

Jack of all trades aster of none rings true there.

The dealers and those that fault find should know what the cars should be capable of.

VAG cars have all had this "option" for many years now (to set ONE mirror and the other one follows - which means you have to set ONLY the driver's mirror)...  if a dealer doesn't know about this he also probably thinks VW still sells cars with engines in the back and ten to one he doesn't know the wheel has been invented either.
