Just noticed the car won't rev above 4000 rpm in park 1st and second. Anyone offer any solutions please

According to VAG specs, I'm afraid the oil consumption is (just) within specs.

Limitting the revs in neutral (inc park) and low gears is now becomming more normal for any car, to reduce or prevent engien damage.

Why do you want it to rev above 4,000 rpm in Park?

Something wrong if it will not rev above 4,000 rpm in 1st and 2nd.

Do you mean it changes gear in 'D' at 4.000 rpm, ?  thats fine, light throttle it changes at 2,400 rpm

Boot it and it will change gear at higher RPM,

or shift to 'S' and it will change at higher RPM.  it will redline.

How can 900 ml per 1000 km be in Spec.???  Who told you that?

Even the silly figure in the Owners Manual of 0.5 litres in 1000 km is too much.  ie 500 ml in 621 miles.

KenONeil, re post #3,

how can 0.9 litres per 1000 km be just in Spec,

when even VW have 0.5 litres per 1000km as the figure they try to give as acceptable use of oil ?

Has not had a remap.

Even in manual it shifts at 4000 rpm in 1-2-

Believe me I can not understand how using 900 ml in 1000 km is within specs. I have nothing but issues from the time it stopped due to no oil in it 100 km out if show room. VAG Australia are scum bags

If the ECU puts the engine in 'Limp Mode', the Turbo can be Disabled to Save the Engine.

But you should have the Warning Lights if that was occurring.

The Engine is on Turbo only above 3,500 rpm when operating correctly.

All sorts needs checked out on VAS, and the Spark Plugs need checked, the Service Schedule is at 40,000 miles,

1 plug may fail at less than 1/2 that mileage.

You really need to have the car properly Investigated,

& ECU Update, maybe even Skoda Australia doing a Breather / Valve Mod, Updated Oil Squirters etc.

Find out from Skoda Australia Customer Services what they say 'Acceptable Oil Usage is', because someone seems to be

giving you duff info on Specs & Tolerances.

PS.

Did you car require and get a Service Campaign on the DSG.

Mechatronic Control Unit Checked, Oil Changed and a ECU Update?

eg this is the one they did in NZ

Thanks guys

It had breather pipe done 2 years ago it's only done 18000 kms. Warranty runs out in July. Quietly ****ting myself it's going to cost big time moving forward. Cheers

What is service mode ?

When you have had a remap you can put the car in service mode so when it goes to the dealers for a service or work it stops them taking it for a quick spin at full power.

If you have high Oil Consumption and 900 ml in 1000 km is High,

then that is a Warranty Issue, so a Oil Consumption Test is needed, Under Warranty.

& then they might do the Oil Squirters, but since the Breather Mod Failed they might say you need to try the Second and latest Breather Mod.

So that needs started while you are in Warranty.

Then if you have a DSG Issue, that will be checked out during the Service Campaign Work,

and Skoda will need to Replace the Mechatronic Control Unit if Faulty.

But it at least will be the Synthetic oil in the DSG changed to Mineral & the ECU Update.

all the best with it.

errr HANG ON ! it wont rev in park... its designed to do that, there is a limiter on it ! pmsl.

Yeah was gunna mention that mine, even though it's a non vrs, the dealer told me it had a limiter at 4000rpm when in neutral but don't know if that's relevant or not

ang4444,

For a simple check on your 1.2 TSI Manual, maybe try and see,

if you put your car into Neutral, does it only rev to 4,000 rpm?

(The OP has a Twincharger with a DSG.)

My brother is always referring to our car as a 'Labia', much to his amusement.

He's rather fond of checking if I have been inside the vag today.......

Yeah it won't rev past 4000rpm, i know his is different but i thought maybe he has a limiter as well? I don't know what the limiter is for, is it for faster take off from a stop or for other reasons?
