OutlawKens vrs mk1

So I just bought BobIzUrUncles black mk1 vrs so all he did to it can be found here

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/293292-bobs-skoda-octavia-vrs/

Only issue so far is I did manage to trigger the ecp light putting her into limp mode as I thought id open her up for the first time, pulled over and switched off and straight back on and it ran fine after. Have to look into that at some point.

So being a ex sprayer the car will soon have a full mop and polish to get the paint as good as it will go, there have been a few repairs what with the cat c accident but il work a little magic.

Need to buy a few bits, drivers side map light switch wont stay on, rear window lock button wont stay down and when adjusting the right mirror the left follows it lol but all little bits to bring the car up abit.

Now bob (kieron) was told the car had been mapped when he got it and going by the rate at which the tires spin from no revs id say somethings been changed on the map as this car flies and im use to a 530i bmw with 231bhp! This vrs is a torque monster, I will be strapping her to my friends dyno as soon as I can pay him a visit and see whats what.

I am after a decat downpipe if anyones got one they dont want or any info on bad ones I should avoid.

Updates and pics will follow.

I see you heading to add more pollution into the atmosphere by the proposed decat.???

Sorry, just venting off as 7,000 people are dying per year in this country through air pollution..

Coming from a Diesel driver!!! With all the recent news on the fuel from the black pumps :dull:

Well once its done il run it thro the emissions at work to see just how much of a difference there is as looking at the mot results this car makes hardly anything harmful. You def dont wanna meet my drag racing friends then again these cars never run for long and only out in the middle of fields

That would definitely would attract a lot of interest, including me, with a before and after decat removal omissions test comparision.. thanks..

So I need to look into the hand brake as my doubts were proven yesterday when the misses got in from shopping saying someones parked right up my cars butt, she'd rolled back on her own! The handle pulls nice and tight but the car creaks causing my suspicions. The pads and 1 caliper are new so il give it bed in tomo on way to work. I did load it up against the engine in 1st and reverse and she does hold, might need a slight adjustment. Has made some lacquer splits on the top edge of the bumper but it had some already so no big deal there. Il re spray it in the summer.

Must say tho overall im so happy, really is fun to drive, so engaging which is what I wanted as my bmw 530i drove itself practically! Cant wait for a dry hot day to really test the grip.

my 328i, miss this car loads, sold it for more doors, was sitting on 7 series 18" style 32s, i love a good oem wheel, had a remap, 325i inlet and m3 rear diff, so much fun. then bought this

lovely car but i got bored very quickly, had it a year but sold it to buy my octy.

anyways to todays mod, didnt like the jvc unit that came with the car, mainly due to the line in plug not working but also as i find jvc stuff very gimmicky without the filters and options i want to tune the sound. Anyways swapped it for this philips unit that was sitting in a auction car at work and it will do nicey unitl i can buy a double din unit.

So couple minor changes this weekend

SAM_0509.jpg

SAM_0510.jpg

Took the fly eye off the headlights as I werent sure about it, have wanted a fly eyed car in past so can tick that box. Left the indicators and rear lense centres done as that looks ok in my books.

Also the changed headunit had no power to the pre outs so no sub, not a problem, swapped in the alpine I bought 11 years ago, love this unit, 4 volt pre out, all the right adjustability, so happy that it still works.

Also little tip for annoyed partners, give them ya connector set and they can make crimp jewelry.

So update time, got some resistors today so I can remove all the rubbish from the engine, forge blank plate on order as well, got my tt jacking points from group1rs last night so I had a weekend planned of improvements BUT today on way home the squealing noise I was hoping was the sai pump got real bad and now I have no boost! Turbos probably popped or a hose or the intercoolers split open! Not happy but this is the risk when buying a turbo car. Got no smoke or lights on dash just no power and a horrible noise. Will update on weekend as I have no time to sort it so will have to drive it off boost and keep a eye on the oil level.

Turbos fubar, looks like waters got into the bearings, the casings cracked were the coldside outlet joins and got bubbly water coming out. Picking up a creations tip, welly cooler set up with 3" pipes, second hand turbo and forge actuator tomo night and my resistors and forge blank plate are waiting to go on too.

Well after a complete mare of a time the new turbos on, not driven it more than 3 miles yet but think I need to have the acuator reset as its a forge one set at 240bhp on a early model golf mk4 so on boost its smoking alot but this could be the oil in the system as I couldnt clean it out. She smokes only on full throttle and it clears once driving normal again fairly quick. Also there are no oil spots collecting on the back of the car so im happy its not the oil seals.

Now assuming nothing goes pop over this week I have a lovely 3" piped toyosport cooler to fit although I need a map sensor tube and a creations tip to fit but this turns out to be a early one so doesnt have a pipe for whatever the pipe nearest the filter is that goes under the inlet. Il buy a screw in adapter for that rather than buy another tip.

Small update, new turbos running lovely although I have a leak but im not looking into it until the new front mount goes on and hopefully cures it. Im not in a rush but hopefully I can trial fit it next weekend. Had to redo the water and oil feed to the turbo as she was leaking all over the place plus the hose from my catch tank to the puck split making a nice mess. I want to fit the can lower as theres always water in that pipe making the can a little pointless. Also had to remove the headunit, was draining the battery over 2-3 days also causing the need for a new battery. Have also ordered a rear wiper blank as it dont work and I only realised after seeing petes thread (group1rs) that the arm is wrong and sitting on the wrong side of the window! As the cars going to be drag and track used and hopefully joining vw sportsman next year im removing the whole thing, wires, pipe and motor will all go to save a few grams. Im hoping to finally do the deletes next weekend as well having had the resistors and blank plate for ages. Pics to follow.

So I finally have done my first visual mod, guy on ebay sells these for £12 delivered with a little bag of mastic and swab and I must say it really cleans the rear up. Need to give it a clean once it hardens but I likey. Need a boot trim tho as its got 4 2" screws in it!

Was it a glass one ?

No its plastic but matches fairly well, when it arrived I thought it was alot of cash for what it is but others charge more and dont give ya the mastic so im happy with it. Will do a leak test at some point although im sure the weather will do it for me

So quick update, boots not full of water so the bungs working nicely. More importantly my friend with a 420bhp lcr gave me his old powerflex dog mount bushes as he upgraded to the ecs one, put it on today, easiest and most rewarding mod I have ever done. Ok the car rattles now but thats to be expected but no more knocking as the old bush was full of mastic and the grips improved along with the shift. Love it, everyone needs this mod

Picked this up friday from skoda dartford for a bargain price of £32, took seconds to fit and im so happy as I really didnt wanna fit my old one with screws but without it the parcel shelf rattles badly

Also bought new turbo to manifold bolts which were well over priced at £27 for 3 but ya win some n loose some, didnt come with washers so will need to buy some.

On the way back from skoda my exhaust clamp lost its fight with the downpipe, sounded awesome but had to drag the thing 7 miles to work to refit it which has caused some damage to the end of the pipe so have a blow now but gonna leave it til I get my miltek on once I find a 2.5" exhaust system

So a good news, possible bad news situation is on the horizon! Good news is I have finally found a higher paid job having taken a 10ķ cut last year to move in with my misses and its with euro car parts so discount ahoy and money to spend on the vRS.

Now the possible bad news, as some of you no the turbo blew not long after I bought it which was replaced but now couple months later its making noises again! Now hopefully its a leak as I have had to re tighten and now replaced the bolts which ment moving the charge pipe out the way a few times, when I put the new bolts in the other day thats when the noise started, I can spin the turbo up with low pressure with just a nice spool whistle but when I put more throttle on its squealing again but fingers crossed its a leak on the pancake pipe joins, smoke test to do and if it fails that and it probably will as I not lost no power or have smoke ill be taking the car off the road for ko4 bits and engine refresh as im not gonna keep replacing turbos!

Short update, new job didnt work out but off to ford monday and its a mustang dealer so im like a pig in doo doo.

Anyway boost issue first looked to be the top hose so bought a creations one. Fitted it and no difference so got it on a ramp and the lower fast fit hose is leaking around the metal sleeve. Its been like this this for ages now as I wanna fit my toyosport cooler when money allows and the top hose was already something I wont use.

On another note the rear head lining plastic trim is falling down so something else to look at, if its like most the trim il buy a new one with new clips, I also need new boot trim clips as the new panel has fallen off once.

Hey guys little update, new jobs made me have second thoughts about the car as its 40 miles a day instead of 7 when I bought it so I bought a standard lower intercooler pipe in a effort to fix the car to sell. Had a mechanic at work fit it as im not allowed to use the ramps unlike my old job and she blew off, he hadn't hooked the clip over the tag on the hard pipe so a trip to machine mart and £48 lighter I now own a 3rd trolley jack, a nice clarke low entry job to compliment my high lift one and will throw my other out as its cheap and rubbish! Anyway I fitted the pipe myself and no change, the hard pipes broken!

Anyways im keeping the car, I get around 350 miles to a tank with a blown exhaust and boost issues and yes a diesel makes alot of sense but I really dont wanna give up on the car so the front mount is next on me list, will order the map sensor tube next month then want a exhaust so I can get the sports cat on but first im gonna start with the paint restoration as theres alot of fine scratches and dull patches to buff up and a shiny black car looks betteŕ than any other colour so I gotta do it. Pictures and real updates to follow
