rSAP compatibility issues

Recommended Posts

I have identified an issue with SIM cards. I used:

- 4 different phones that support rSAP: HTC One M7, HTC One M8, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5 (HTC One M7 supports rSAP after latest update to Lollipop 5.0.2)

- 2 different Superbs (both with BT Premium / GSM III module - mine with 3C8 035 730 E and my friend's 3C8 035 730 D)

- 4 different SIM cards

2 of the SIM cards allowed all phones connecting via rSAP without any issues.

2 other SIM cards were not working via rSAP:

- in both Samsungs rSAP connection was dropped after several seconds

- in both HTCs during establishing rSAP connection phone indicated that SIM card was intercepted while MaxiDot was displaying that connection is being established and after several seconds connection was completely dropped

So if you have similar issues I recommend to check and replace your SIM card before claiming your phone or BT module!!!

Mmmm interesting... Did these issues appear from "day one"?

I have an issue with mine dropping rSap but it is very random, can go a weekend OK (only use car at weekends) then disconnect/reconnect maybe once or twice a trip.. But this has only started in the last month or so.. was OK from delivery of the new car in July, started December/early January, so maybe a different issue for me. :) My old Galaxy S3 worked perfect for 5-6 months then started, and Galaxy Note I borrowed from work did the same, and now my new Note 4 worked OK for 2 weeks but started last weekend :(

The dealer is due to change the BT module in mine on the 20th which I hope will cure mine. current one is 3C8 035 730 D I do know from ETOS it lists the 3C8 035 730 E as well so maybe that is a later unit which I may get.

In the meantime I have just changed my phone for a new Galaxy Note 4 but used my old SIM, Vodafone did send me a new one so I may try changing it over :)

As I say as mine worked for s long I suspect mine does have a module fault... I HOPE!

Yeah not all sim cards support it.

My other half's phone refused to work then got a new sim with the new contract and hey presto it worked!

I started investigation last Friday when my son's HTC One M7 got Lollipop update. We were unable to succesfully pair it in RSAP. When I arrived to the office it popped up that same phone of my friend works in RSAP without any issues. Got anothe phone yesterday and with my son's SIM it didn't work while with my friend's SIM it worked perfectly. Another friend involved - with two Samsungs - and what I suspected was fully confirmed.

I have found this issue in the UK Pab567. rSap appears to work on all networks except the 3 telephone network. I have tried many times to connect my Galaxy S4 to rSap. it will connect for a few seconds and then drop the connection except to the 3C8 035 730 B, on the B revision I can connect to rSap without any problem. If I then change the sim to any other UK network, O2, Vodaphone, EE then it will connect without any problem via rSap. I am unable to figure this issue out, any help would be very much appreciated.

Ask 3 to swap your SIM card. It worked for me :)

They have already given a new sim. It is the same with all 3 sims in my family

Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

There are very few SIM manufacturers in the world. Check with 3 if they use more tha 1 and if they do then make sure manufacturer of the new card is different to the previous one.

That is correct. My normal (Dutch provider Simyo) sim card works fine, but my German Lycamobile sim card that I use when I'm in Germany also refuses to work with rsap.

My Blau sim worked by my other half's Blau sim didn't!

Must have been different makes.

Interesting - is the HTC One M7 rooted, modified or any extra apps installed? I have the GPE edition (5.0.1) and I've had to root it and install an app to get RSAP up and running. Just curious as it would be lovely not to need a 3rd party app to use the in car BT, hopefully the next release might include it.

Saying that, everything works as it is currently and I'm also on 3.

I always root my phones and prefer the rooted rSAP system anyway. It means I can have the SMS plugin installed which copied txts back to the phone so they're not all stuck on the car!

In HTC you don't have to root to have this working!

  • 3 months later...

My HTC 1M8s works fine - not rooted - full rSAP compatibility no stability issues. On EE network - as was old Blackberry before hand that worked fine also.

As far as I'm aware only certain phone makers (HTC, Samsung) support rSAP natively in their versions of android for some reason. Not sure about latest Blackberry.

As pointed out above certain networks don't support it on their sims - so with a good read on the forums I think that if you are in the market for a new phone with rSAP the way to go is either HTC or Samsung on EE. I found that very few of the alleged specialist phone shops on the high street know very much about rSAP. I resorted to emails direct to manufacturers for confirmation of phone rSAP abilities.

  • 3 months later...

I can now confirm that Vodafone SIM cards DO HAVE ISSUES with Skoda bluetooth and the rSap profile.

Having had issues with random disconnects with my Galaxy S3 and Note 4, totally random, maybe a couple of weeks OK then disconnect from the car, then maybe reconnect to rSap, sometimes to basic hands free and maybe not at all unless I reconnected manually..

Since the 28th August until 17th October I tested the S3 with a Virgin mobile SIM, PERFECT, no disconnects and always connected to rSap. Worked about 22 times (This is days as I only log days OK not how many times on that day..)

On the 18th October I put in a NEW Vodafone PAYG SIM into the S3, just disconnected and reconnected! so it worked twice!

Bear in mind I use the car Friday to Sunday only..

So I can confirm that the issue does lie with the Vodafone network/SIM
