got my Octavia Elegance 1.9TDI from there and have ordered my Fabia vRS 1.9TDI from there too!

I only have minor niggles with them which could be the fault of my insurance company rather than Prestons.

I would have a look at a few other dealers in the area, as you may get a good deal at one a bit nearer, if only for completion sake, but as I've said on an earlier post, I've not really had any problems with them.

Hi, Newbie here, my Octavia (1.8l Petrol) had the engine management warning light on for last 50 miles or so. Took it to Preston Motors, they said nothing was wrong and had to reset the computer.

I was charged 70£ (inc vat). is that a fair deal ?

They basically charged you an hours labour for looking at the car and resetting the fault codes. Think of it what you will (I obviously don't know how long they spent with itand what the did), but £70 an hour labour is probably the going rate for a main dealer in London.

It's what I paid labour wise when I had my car serviced there a few months ago.

Going to do a test drive with them tomorrow.

First tried laser Skoda in Harlow. Twice they failed to return phone calls, after I asked if I could test drive a 4x4.

Trans City in Walthamstow I have issues with after problems with a Felicia.

Rang David Trott at Prestons and said I wanted to test drive a 4x4 and was concerned as to what a Jumbo Box was, as wife and are are both on the large side.

David pointed out that I didn't need to test a 4x4, as it wouldn't kick in, so we are testing an Elegance 1.9, which will show us the engine and the jumbo box.

No problems at all when I asked if we could have it for a couple of hours, time to run up the M11 and really try it, not just a run round the block.

Let you know if I do the deed!

did the test drive. Picked the car (Elegance 1.9tdi) up at 10.30 and was told to bring it back by 5.30,,please. Did the test, very nice! Went back and placed the order - took 2 hours and David was very meticulous, checking every line against the Skoda on-line ordering system to ensure that items were correct Saved me several hundred quid by knowing that the statement in the brochure, that tow bars are dealer fit, is incorrect. Brochure £253 for the bar, £180 for the electrics, plus about 3 hours fitting. Ex factory the whole lot is £231!!

Rang me back on July 1st, as this months offer is a Scout for 4x4 money. How many salesmen would have done that? Declined as I want the 1.9, not the 2.0

Nearly a year old, First Service time. Rang up to arrange, told they had a slot today, if I was in by 8.30, I would be away by 9.30. Arrived at 8.20, they opened a few minutes later, booked in. Finally left at 9.50. Good service? Judge for yourself! Check list has 7 items. Oil and filter change, I have to take on trust. Re-chrck oil level, will do again later Check brake linigs, again, have to take on trust Reset service interval display ditto Recode service interval display ditto " " " " Fill in next service due sticker and attach to end of dash panel....ooops! Fill in mirror label and secure to mirror oooops!! So, the five things I cannot fully check, are they done? The two things I can check are not done! I can but wonder??

Bad,very bad...Had twice the car booked in with them.

First was for an oxygen sensor (lambda sensor) and cambelt kit change. The car was having CEL on. Couple of days later I checked the car and oil was pouring from under, which didn't do before, also there were screws missing from the low cambelt cover. Spoke with them and booked in again, this time they did it Ok, at least what I could see, and the oil was not dripping any more. So I said Ok, anybody can do mistakes, but I was worried that the cambelts might be oiled and also I had to go like that to the airport...

Second time a lady bumped in my back, the bumper was a bit scratched and parking sensors pushed in, after 4 days a had to call them to find out what was happening as they didn't call back, I called them twice, as the person speaking first time didn't know if the car was ready, said he will call back in 15 min, I called again after 1 hour. The job was done, but the finish was not great, dust trapped in the paint a bit, not all the parts of the bumper repainted, but just where the scratch was(they charged her £230 for that) . One month later one of my sensors was already in the bumper again, I took the car to them, they said they will check it and they put also a free inspection.

Each time I was asked to come at 8.30, but each time I had to leave the car in and take it later in the evening. When I called later that evening they where looking at the car and they called me back saying that there are some problems. Two rear tyres were gone, the rear brake pads, radiator leak, console bushes, about £760. I declined the work as the car had an MOT 2 days before, with no advisories(at Kwik-fit, I am sure that if they could charge me for something they would), and I checked it myself before, so the tyres were about 4.5 mm and the brake pads were ok, the console bushes are a bit old but not too bad and the radiator leak is at the switch, is not dripping, it is just a bit moist(they put a radiator change). When I took the car the sensor was fitted back, but the plastic around it was scratched like a kid played with a knife on it. They enlarged the hole were the sensor is fitted so they don't have to take out any trim in order to refit it, so probably will go in again in short time.

No apologies at all and they lack quality of work(twice booked in, twice had to go back), not what I will expect from a Skoda dealer. Also I am not happy that they applied cowboy tactics, trying to make me have work done which was not needed.

So, avoid.

Just to continue the story, the sensor got in the bumper again, so I repaired it myself instead of going to this useless stealers. It did not need glue or scratching anything, it was a matter of just fitting it in its place and now is as good as new except the damage made by the dealer on the bumper. Thank you Preston Motors.

Been using prestons for over 20yrs (started with an almost new Estelle) and must have had 20 Skodas between my wife and myself. Always got a good deal and found them to be honest, knowledgeable and fair. Currently have two Skoda's (yeti and octavia) both bought there.

Just bought my octavia 3 vrs though Preston Motors - dealt with Lee Harrison.  Good competitive price and kept me well informed over the order period.  Good service all round and sensible/honest approach to any snagging issues.

Just to update everyone about sales exec Lee Harrison - he has been quite unwell recently and in hospital for a week or so but is now home and on the mend.

I think I speak for all of us that know or have dealt with Lee when I wish him a speedy recovery and to see him slaving behind a desk again :)

If you need to get hold of preston motors I'd suggest phoning instead of pm'ing :)
