Ive submitted a couple of reviews in the past but they seem to have disapeared.

To Sumarise we have 2 Octavias & both are serviced by Winchester Motor Company.

Even though neither car was bought from them the service is the best we have ever had from any dealership on any car in the past. We both drive fairly high mileage & therefore get through a few cars & dealers!

I would recomend them 100% to anybody, they are curtious, polite, efficent, the workshop guys actually know what they are doing & they dont rip you off. I looked last year at changing one of the cars & there was no pressure selling either so I guess when we change they will get the deal

I took my Octy vRS in for its 1st anual service (10K) and to get my faulty dashboard clocks sorted.

Both Mike Godwin and Mark Parsons were friendly, helpfull and accomodating.

I got a courtesycar while they did the work and the car washed afterwards (not a well as I wash it but the missus does tell me I am analley retentive where the octy is concered!)

Clocks were super glued until a replacement warranty set arrived.

All key fobs were re-coded and everything going well with smiles all round.

Can't comment on other review but I was well pleased. Will be going back for next service.

Cheers Fella's

They will attempt to be friendly, I find the quality of service to be pretty poor. They have promised me time and time again to phone me back with price quotes, etc but never do. The only times they have phoned me have been to tell me I needed a new turbo (that will be £750+vat please), and to demand I returned a loan car (I was about 5 minutes away from the dealer when they phoned - but they seemed to forget I had to wait half an hour the day before I collect the loan car! - and I returned the car before the required 6.00pm).

Charged me about £75/hour just for labour. Ouch.

So far I don't believe they have solved any of the major issues with my car, but they did stick a screw in the middle of the bumper to help to stop it from catching on the rough ground.

Loders in Yeovil provide a better service and let you speak to the mechanics and don't try and fob you off with rubbish answers. Oh and I had to wait 5 weeks (iirc) for some shocks to come in for the GFs Felicia :-(

Went looking for a new car and had a look in here.

Some of the worse service I have ever received, the dealer making me feel like I should be privileged for entering their showroom.

The last time I had tried them they managed to fail to return calls and I have a feeling that the recent visit will be the last I ever make to this dealer.

There are other dealers within a 30 mile radius to whom I would rather drive, which i think sums up my level of satisfaction with this lot.

I think that Westover staff have not been trained to use the phone - or certainly not the concept of dialing a number/returning a call. I am afriad that when a company tells me they will phone me back with prices / parts availablity then I expect them to do so. To fail is just a display of how they don't value their customers.

In preference I go to a dealer in Somerset rather than Westover SKoda, however I might give Meadens try next time I am in the area.

I have to agree with the adverse comments.

What was once an extemely good dealership has changed beyond measure.

Frankly they are totally useless and really don't care at all.It seems that actually serving customers is now well beneath their dignity ,you are made to feel as if you should apologise for going there in the first place.

They should not be allowed a main dealer status, they are certainly not helping Skoda.:thumbdwn: :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn:

They told me that my Chassis was twisted, causing an engine mount failure and destruction of my engine.

I was then told afterwards (in the same conversation) that Westover had no bodywork or chassis experts to repair it

Hmmm, if you have no Bodywork or Chassis experts, how can you be so adamant that my Chassis is twisted?

They were very rude towards me on the phone about the above situation, when i asked how they could judge the damage with mechanics with no knowledge of the claimed damage, was fobbed off by "Well that's what our technicians have found" then the excuse of a lot of customers present in the showroom and then the phone promptly put down on me before i could reply.

So, at the moment, unimpressed. And unfortunatley, it seems they could be my local dealer for servicing etc in the future under my lease...

Maybe they are under new management, or maybe my Car has gotten them an **** kicking from Skoda UK? (who had to send the UK Technical Manager to inspect my vehicle, as apparently Dealerships are unable to diagnose the sort of damage that was claimed on mine...)

That would be funny  , IMO...

if u didnt crash it then maybe the engine mounting wouldnt have been damaged causing the cambelt to fail,

Maybe.. but if you read the thread i have in "New Octavia" and apply some knowledge, even if the chassis WAS twisted, there is no physical way that the mount could become disattached from the BLOCK causing the engine to drop! And there would have been no reason for the independent vehicle inspectors to retain the bolts holding the mount to the BLOCK...

The rubber in the mounting would absorb any twist, and even if that was the only thing that failed on the mount, then the mount would be slack and moving, and still would hold the engine in place, not letting it fall 3" or so!

My 1995 CAVALIER has had shunts a-plenty on TRACKS and hasnt ever had an engine mount fail or chassis damage!!

Having recently bought sun shades form here I thought I'd stick my tuppence in.

Went in on a Saturday afternoon and was told by the single salesman that he couldn't help me as that was not his department. All the parts people only work a half day on Saturdays !! However he did give me an accesories book.

When I phoned on the Monday morning the lady I spoke to was more than helpfull and we arranged that I would go in the Next Saturday to have them fitted.

The rear blind is the one that requires all the boot trim to come off. It is a pain as the guys spent 30 mins taking my boot trim apart for thr sake of 2 small clips!!

All work was completed to a good standard and they only charged £ 13 for the labour.

In all apart from the initial visit everything was fine.

I have had my car serviced with them eversince new.(2006)

So far i have done 33,000 miles and had 3 services with them.I will list them in order:

1st service 10,000+Warranty recall=Service went ok recall was on the tailgate actuator switch to open it may disconnect.they checked it and was ok.But made a real mess of putting inner tailgate trim back on.Had to go back as it was hanging off and covered in oily handprints.

2nd service 20,000=Service was ok replaced front pads too. When i got my car home i found they had damaged the n/s sill under the doors at the front jacking point. Its all crushed in.Spoke to workshop manager but he denied that they did not do it and they don,mt use trolley jacks!!!! Even after i explained they are the only garage ever to touch my car he still deines they done it.

Also on this same service they had damaged the big plastic engine cover which was rattling around on top,but they fixed that one!!

3rd service 30,000=Service was ok replaced rear pads too. When i drove the car away it had no power at all and was using lots of fuel.it took them 4 days to find the fault of "Relay" which the parts guy could not find on computer so had to call Skoda Technical for help. After fitting it cured the problem for a short time.

This garage is absolutely rubbish and all the mechanics are animals!!!!

They don,t care about your car at all they just want to rip you off and get you out the door!!!

WESTOVER SKODA should definately have the franchise taken off them.

I now have my car done at MEADENS OF SWAY and they must be the most helpful garage i have ever met. They sorted the no power problem thet westover couldn,t and found it was a dirty air filter!!

Westover also have me on the wrong service schedule as my car should be on Long life services(20,000 miles) so that means Westover have serviced my car 2 times more than reqiured so have seriously ripped me off.

SHAME ON YOU WESTOVER-PLEASE CLOSE DOWN!!!!!

I really hope skoda take this dealers franchise away, as they don't deserve it.

A relatives car went here to get some work done as it the car had suspension issues so a long drive wasn't going to be ideal and they managed to fail on the customer service front in many ways. As per usual they failed to call back when promising to do so.

The dealer network is what IMHO can give any car a bad reputation. I personally think that Westover got fat on the old MK I Octy taxi contracts and seem to have forgotten they need to keep customers happy.

It's less of a problem for me as I'm now closer to two other dealers, but this is the relatives closest dealer and they don't use them for these reasons :(

I've used Westover in Corfe Mullen on many occasions and for many years.

I've found them to be pretty good.

Only real issue is parking there - there is literally NO parking space!

Used their body shop in 1998 and 2000 after being reversed into on 2 occasions. They did an excellent repair job on both occasions. They took a bit longer than expected on the 2nd repair, but they provided a loan car on both occasions for the full duration and even gave my wife a bunch of flowers to say sorry for being a bit late.

Bought a RAV4 from them in 2002 when they were a Toyota dealer. Excellent service and a did us a good deal too.

Bought my Mk1 Octy from them in 2004. Gave me an incredible deal as they were obviously trying to get rid of the last of the Mk1 stock. They did mess up the registration and gave me the same reg as another car, but put it right as soon as the problem was spotted and gave me a tank full of fuel for my trouble. Result

Had it serviced by them 3 times, plus a recall. Car was handled ok and came back to me with all work done, and nice and clean too.

Just bought my Mk2 from them. Have to agree about the hit-and-miss-ness of returning calls, but its pretty evident that they're understaffed. My salesbloke was working on his own on many occasions. So hopefully that'll improve. It wasn't helped by the fact that the guy was quite new and clearly didn't know much about the car - not a problem though as I'd done my research and knew enough. I even explained how the maxidot worked to him!!

He did go out of his way to get me the car I wanted too. I was after something quickly so had to chose from the UK Stock rather than waiting for a build. He found 2 cars that matched my spec - 1 was an exact match, but was already at another garage so slightly tricky to get. The other was not exaclty what I wanted, but close (no maxidot) but it was at the Skoda depot so dead easy to get.

Obviously he had the option to take the easy route, but he didn't, he put in the extra bit of effort and got me the car I wanted.

Had a phone call a few weeks after picking it up to make sure I was happy too. Dealers always promise to do that, but I think that may be the 1st time a dealer has actually done it!

I'd have to give them an 8/10. I've had far worse experiences elsewhere.

When they found me a courtesy car (eventually) it had 8 miles of fuel in it.... They gave my paperwork to the wrong bloke.... Nice enough people though.... Will let you know how it went when I get it back...

Well, they paid for the fuel for me. Cleaned my car - looks bloody good i have to say. They noticed the 'weak' handbrake which i intentionally didn't mention. All cost about 200 quid.

Could have been a lot worse.

Back in Dec 2005 they destroyed my tailgate whilst changing the damper struts (failed to support it while removing what turned out to be the good strut!) glass shattered, body damage etc.

That said, the car was put back to condition as was, and in the 3 years since I've had no issue with the repairs, apart from small piece of residual glass which sometimes moves when the tailgate is opened - just can be bothered with the hassle of finding and extracting it.

Their servicing has been as good as anywhere else in my experience. Last year they replaced an instrument pod under warranty without quibble, and recently did a lube service, replaced a fuel filter with parts I supplied and replaced the lower front wishbone bushes after advising they were shot (I'd suspected so from the odd clunk or two over speed bumps and dropped kerbs). Without prompting the car had been jet washed when I picked it up, having been in a state from previous 500mile round trip in the days before.

The staff turnover in the last 3 years appears to have been high, and there is different management in place but that changes regularly in the trade anyway, motor groups seem to move their people around a lot especially one with so many brand dealerships in the local area like Westover have ('career' progression).

I agree the parking is dire and its always best to check for sump/undertray damage (from the lethal hump at the boundary with public footpath) and body/alloy dings.

Approached with a healthy degree of caution, forward thinking and sensible drop off/pick up precautions they are in my opinion no worse than any other mass market commercial main dealer in the area.

I know you shouldn't have to, but "buyer beware" is the soundest approach anyone can follow in these trying times of financial meltdown, bankrupcy and redundancies. Expect the worst and then sometimes things won't always turn out as bad as you anticipated!

Bought my current VRS from there.

Service was okay for me. But to be honest the first and only time I visited the dealership was to collect the new car, so cannot comment on anything other than the sales transaction.

Car came through quicker than forecasted and was as ordered.

No problems.

I went to this dealer with a synchromesh problem on 3rd gear instead of my supplying dealer (City Skoda Basingstoke) as I recently had a bad service experience there so have lost confidence completely with them and will not be returning there, and Westover happen to be close to where I work.

Initially Westover just changed the gearbox oil at the behest of Skoda UK, as they insisted they try that before ripping the gearbox out. Obviously that didn't work so they took the car back and removed the gearbox. Initially they were going to just replace the 3rd gear synchro but changed their minds when they dismantled it as they thought bits off the damaged synchro may have contaminated the rest of the gearbox so instead elected to completely replace it. The new box took a few days to arrive, but for the entire period they lent me a brand new Roomster at no charge (most dealers charge for the insurance I gather). I got the car back yesterday and it was as good as new, and had also been washed. The steering wheel was not quite central but when I mentioned that they apologised corrected it this at my convenience this lunchtime while I waited.

I must say I was very worried at having such a major repair carried out on a 9 month old car (under warranty) but I found the whole experience with Westover very impressive. The staff were very courteous and helpful throughout, keeping me informed of progress - especially Damon the service manager. They have a great coffee machine too!

Full marks - I'll definitely use them again.

Bob.

My first service as a Skoda owner was at Westover. Mixed feelings about it to be honest. I had been a Westover customer at the Peugeot dealership in Christchurch for a couple of years and the people there could not bend over backwards enough for you to do anything and get anything right without quibble. I'd been right peed off with Meadens who supplied the car over fog light problem, so went to the nearest other dealer - Westover in Corfe Mullen. 20k service which I waited for as I was on route from Berlin to Snowdonia, just passing through Dorset for a change of clothes like you do, and just sat there. Ignored, not even offered a cup of coffee, the car was not washed came back just as filthy (I was in a hurry so left it as it was). They however adjust the handbrake without asking, and rotate the wheels front to back as its a Greenline not having a spare I can't do it myself.

The paperwork I was given was a variable service sheet, when my car is on fixed, and thinking about it now also a couple of things on there were not applicable to my car yet they were ticked as done...so a paper exercise. I phoned them and quested this when I found out, but echoing the previous threds above nobody bothered to get back in touch with me.

I have since popped in passing to find out why I had a whislting noise in the cabin, after a 15 min wait somebody popped out, wrenched the cabin filter out and shoved it back in and said it must be a leaf. Did fix it as I could even see the filter was hanging out of the frame, so went home via GSF and bought a new Mann one and fixed it myself.

Not anything to write home about, now if the Peugeot had been more reliable I'd be in Christchurch raving about how good they are, but I'm not and frankly Corfe Mullen needs to get its backside over to Christchurch to learn about Customer Service and Customer retention. I shall be keeping an eye on these threds on Briskoda and heading to the dealer delivering the best next time.
