Bickerton Skoda - Sheffield

I've "Booked a Service" on Bickerton Skodas website. Did this yesterday morning at around 0930hrs, though still no contact 25 hours later. Don't think this is just Bickertons, but many dealers are terrible at replying to emails. No point having that screen there if they don't check any submissions. Think I'll have to go to a local specialist now.

On a more positive note, my Superb was booked in there for a couple of bits a few months ago, and the service was excellent. Car was cleaned too - even brought the car round for me - never had that before..

Bickerton have been bought by Rainworth. Information confirmed by a member of staff from Rainworth last week.

Yep, was told this was going to happen before Christmas, not sure if its been "officially" announced yet though

Just had a brake fluid change and windscreen inspected for de-lamination - replacement authorised, going back for in a couple of weeks. In and out in an hour, all very pleasant. Did a bit of work on my laptop in the waiting area. The old coffee machine is back

Windscreen replaced under warranty today. Another excellent experience. Unlike some experiences I've had getting windscreens replaced elsewhere, this screen was installed perfectly (by a subcontractor at Bickerton's site). No sealant where it shouldn't be, rain sensor re-attached well, no damage to A-pillar trims or even the ticket holder. Once again, as the waiting area is nice and comfortable, I waited while it was done and did some work. Thanks.

Another excellent experience with Mark at Bickerton's parts desk. Top bloke. Found the valve I was after straight away and a very fair price.

Turbo was on the way out so I took my car down on Saturday and left the keys with a salesman (service dept only open weekdays). Got a call Monday from Vanessa to see what my car was there for, so I explained. Got a call updating me on Tuesday to let me know they were going to swap the turbo out under warranty. Another call Thursday morning to say I could collect it. Excellent service. Thanks.

This is a minor point and I realise average customers wouldn't care... I neglected to ask them not to wash it (I washed it right before taking it down so I just didn't think they would tbh). So they did wash it, and whilst kind of a nice well meaning gesture, it was obvious as soon as I saw it in decent sunlight on my drive that I'm going to have to machine polish it. I suspect it was dried with a water-blade / squeegy looking at the marks. No biggy though, but it would be great if dealers generally would learn how to wash cars properly, i.e. decent, clean wash mitts, two bucket method with a grit guard and decent shampoo and dry with proper microfibre drying towels. TBH, I don't think dealers will ever change the way they wash cars so I think the lesson is just to make it clear that you don't want it washing.

Pre-servie experience with these guys have been great; the quotes were roughly 20% cheaper than non-dealership for a timing belt change.

Unfortunately they've been a bit useless today. I assume the belt change went ok but I recieved a call telling me it needed a CV boot for the MOT at 2pm which was fine. At 4 they called to tell me that the part they said they had in stock wasn't actually in the box so it won't be fixed today and my options were that, or take it away with a failure note. Given I've got a meeting tomorrow (I and others) need to leave Sheffield before 7 am and its no longer feasible. This would have been fine earlier in the day but it didn't leave me long enough to go home and get both parts of my licnese for a courtesy car, nor arrange anything else for the others.

Meeting cancelled.

When there looking to order a new fabia when the no vat offer was on, No movement on price what soever and a crazy value giving for my 8 year old car with lots of miles. when to there other branch (rainsworth) as they were willing to move on price,

End up ordering though carfile and save £600 on top of Drivethedeal price which the dealer nearly match. Best bit was the same salesman deal with the paper work

Despite using Bickerton Skoda since 2006 they obviously don't want/need my business anymore.

I have rung everyday for a week to book my car in for a service and I've had 'No-one from the service dept is answering, I'll pass your details on and they will call you back' & 'Service Dept, Sorry but our computers are down so I'm unable to book you in for a service, I'll call you back and book you in'

I guess I shall now go elsewhere, which is a shame as they (Vanessa has always been so helpful)

Bye Bye Bickerton

On the other hand I have always had totally superb service from the Service Dept. Vanessa and the other guys have gone out of their way to make sure my motor ( and me ) have been looked after.

Whenever I have taken my car in and picked it up I have always been made to feel like a valued customer. Emails have been answered promptly and I've been called back exactly when they said they would.

Emailed them for a service quote at 60k miles:

Basic service cost £155.91

Pollen filter is due every 2 years or at 40k miles £39.48

Fuel filter is due every 60k miles

Air filter is due every 6 years or 60k £24.08

Brake fluid change is due every 2 years £50.09

The cambelt (timing belt) is also due at 4 years £445.80 or with a water pump £555.61 (this will be inspected when doing the belt)

I've thanked them but not bothered asking if these exclude VAT.

Can not praise this place enough! Just bought my first Skoda from Bickerton and dealt with a chap called Tony Braithwaite. This guy has got to be the best sales rep I've ever dealt with! His honesty and professionalism was exceptional. He gives a personal reassurance that no other main dealers seem to give, really do think this guy would do anything to keep his customers happy. Just hope their after sales are as good as they say they are.

Well done Bickerton!

Agreed Matt. Tony is a top guy.

Bickerton did my MOT (and re-test) last week. They did the injector recall work at the same time. All went very smoothly and with excellent communication. Another great experience all around.

Last time I posted in this thread it was after a pretty negative service experience but my Fabia vRS went in for an MOT on tues and I don't think I've had service as good for a long time, anywhere.

Especially nice when the price rivalled everywhere excluding Kwik Fit!

Just had my car 10000miles first service with them on thursday. i ask the to change my to long service interval and use long life oil, i was told they always use long life oil, when i drop the Mrs off saw mechcanic with car, i ask him has he change the service to variable and he told me they are all like that, got home and had a look on friday, 9400miles or 371 days till next service, i ask 2 people and still it didnt get done, i had to pick up under bonnet insulation on saturaday morning, the nice man in service come out and fitted it on for me and gave me 10% as i am a forum member so it cost just under £20, i ask the service reception who serve me on thursday why my service hasnt been change, he told me it has, i told him it saids 9400miles or 369days till next service then he ask me why i wanted it change???? i told him i didnt want to come every 7 months for oil change as i do a few miles, he took my key and as me to have a coffee. after 25minutes the car was done but why wasnt it done in the first place? £130 for an oil change? Also there was something about them having to check the turbo
