Telfords - Carlisle

My first experience with telford wasnt great.

Bought my Octavia VRS in Chester, the following day I go to open the bonnet and the bonnet pull comes off in my hand (common problem I believe) take it down to Telford and I say the car is under warranty which it is for a year.

They refused to do it under warranty due to me just buying the car a few days ago and told me to go back to where I bought it from...... CHESTER!!??? for a £5 max. part?

Nearly shouted at the guy for suggesting it.

In the end I had to ring Mitchell Skoda in Chester where I bought it who also thought it was daft, they spoke to the service advisor in Carlisle for around 1 minute and sorted it.

Has given me a first bad impression on the place as if they wont want to do any work under warranty if they dont have to.

Have been back recently to request parts and the parts guy was very helpful in what I was after which improved their image for me a bit.

Telfords are the worst ever, even there own salesmen buy their cars from else where. I would advise you travelling west to Workington and usinger border cars as them seem much better.

Well had mine booked into Telfords to have the diesel injector recall done on 13th April. So while it was there had them due a service seeing as one says due. Regret that now, since picking it up it's being running a purge cycle almost constantly resulting in today the DPF light coming on....great. So I thought I'd check the engine oil level at lunch time, and hey presto it's been overfilled quite significantly. I'm in a real rage at the thought of the potential damage to my engine and DPF that could be done.

How the **** can a main dealer over fill the oil on car model that they sell?

Sure to say i will be kicking off at them tomorrow.

Well it's been back for them to rectify the oil overfill, only now the alarm went off on my journey to work and stayed on all the time I was driving.

Also they've succeeded in pressure washing off a section of lacquer off from the rear wing...brilliant.

Someone was meant to ring me today regarding paying me some money back due to me losing money from work due to going back and forward to sort this mess. Guess what, they havent. So I will be ringing them tomorrow to ask why. And I will get a satisfactory answers.

Advise from me now, avoid them, go anywhere else lol.

And to think I was looking at trading my car in with them....they won't be getting my money now.

Wow they are really bad!!

Would fight to get them to buy a new wing. Would get in touch with skoda UK if they owe money pal.

Will have to avoid them as much as possible after these stories.

We pick our new car up early march. Think I may be suggesting to my step-father on taking it to Workington or Dumfries for repairs.

I've used them once since buying my new car. Cost £198.00 for variable service and brake fluid change. Also been in to buy new boot liner and mats they always come across as polite and friendly no complaints so far.

Would be interested to hear the full story captain scarlet?

This lot are absolutely awful to deal with. I took my mk1 Octavia vrs in a while ago for a poor clutch pedal/gear change. Tried to tell me my clutch was knackered. I took it to an independent vag specialist for a second opinion who replaced the master cylinder and carried out a linkage alignment totally transformed it. I've since been in to look at a second hand car last week. Tried to do a deal with the salesman as a cash deal no finance took a full week of calls from them to knock £200 off. They'll be nice if you just go in and pay what they want. The parts lads are a good bunch though.

Well two things, first I'm glad I didnt read this thread first, and second, they appear to have improved greatly.

Dealt with Lyndsey at Telfords, and she and they couldn't have been better. Car prepared immaculately, smooth hassle free transaction, and even a follow up call this week to see how the car was doing.

Service/MOT due in September, so we'll see how service department fares, but can't complain about my purchase or the experience. 10/10 from me.

Last weekend saw the long trip south for MOT and service.

Perfect. I can only surmise Telford's have listened to criticism?

Clean bill of health, brake service required, advisories on all 4 tyres (0.4mm left till minimum), and advisory on alternator belt, which they said they would do under warranty.

Perfect throughout, I have to give a 10/10 for Telfords. Sorry folks

Now......car in today with Specialist cars Aberdeen for the warranty repair, whats the bet "it's not covered by warranty" line gets trotted out?

Unimpressed. Took my Octavia Scout in for a haldex oil change which went smooth enough. Asked them to look at the wheels which have badly delaminated (well known defect). Was told I would have to pay for the wheels to be repaired, at which point they would then consider whether they would put them in as a warranty fix. This is a disgraceful way to treat customers, and they just don't care.

Secondly, they (without requesting) undertook a 'health check' in my car whilst it was in for the oil change. They informed me that three of the tyres had nails in (the front two tyres were admittedly worn and where scheduled to be replaced be following day). I asked my local independent tyre fitters to change the two worn ones and repair the nail puncture to the third- guess what..... they didn't find a nail! I was also offered an oil top up at cost as it was low (it wasn't on checking) and a washer fluid top up at cost (a little tight?). On a plus note they did pick the car up and drop it off cleaned afterwards.
