Bought the car from them around three months ago now.

First query was regarding the quality of paint and the initial reply was not a known problem, was given instructions too contact the member of staff I bought the car off. The guy has never once replied to my emails after the inital buying of the car, the email does work, so very under par.

Update 10/06/2006

Car needed too go in for the first time due to a air con problem that I was told didnt exist when I bought the car.
They needed too order the part, but the part guys was off on holiday for over a week, and only he could order it!!!! Then the part took over a week too arrive once he was back from holiday, and they 'forgot' to phone too say the part had arrived and for me too bring the car in, lukcy I made a courtersy call.

They dont have a special 'drop the car off when the place is closed through the letter box' letter box so if I posted the keys they could easily be got at through the letter box, other dealers I have used over the years have a a safe box for customers leaving car keys after closing hours.

Car was fixed and picked up, was told that the problem had been fixed but they didnt bother regassing as it might not need it. So after a 100 miles round trip twice, they could not take 10min too test how cold the aircon was. Obvious driving the car home that the temp of the air con wasnt anywere near cool not too mention cold!

So now another 100mile round trip, and summer will have gone by the time the aircon's fixed.

Current feeling is after my warranty with Slaters is up, it's off too Pant Waen garage for all my Skoda needs.

Afternoon folks.

Thought I would post a few comments here regarding mine and SWMBO experiences with Slaters in Abergele.

We've just taken delivery of our second Fabia vRS, and so far the garage has been pretty good.

Starting with the first vRS, we (also) had a problem with a valve in the air conditioning that needed replacement as it would occasionally blow hot air out all the time.  This needed a spare part ordering, which took a couple of weeks, but there were no problems getting the car in for the work to be done, and we were given a courtesy car for the day too.  So that wasn't too bad really.

Servicing has always been fuss free, again with a free courtesy car for the day (shame they use Octy's as a courtesy car though!).

The buying process has been pretty good both times now, and the value given to us for our part exchanges, has been about the going rate.  WE got a deal with free roof bars in buying our latest car, which have been delayed.  It is a genuine mistake though, and they aren't essential, so that's no big deal.

All in all, I would recommend them.

Cheers
Andy

Slater's haven't been the best with some aspects IME. They took a Corsa apart to find a water leak in the boot... Started with the dashboard obviously

Car was returned with sawdust all over the seats for some reason and the dash was put back together by a one armed mexican who was holding a bottle of Tequila.

However, on the whole they've been very good... We'll see what they're made of when the vRS goes back in with a fault in a few days...

Well I've had the displeasure of going back there for the free MOT and ended up paying for some work done that they 'though' would be coverd by warranty, went and got the parts fitted and had a lovely bill for £110. Asked why a £30 part ended up with a £110 bill and they took the long way round to fix it and charged £60 a hr for the pleasure.

On the way home the air con has gone again, this will be the fourth time it's been back for the same problem.

Also noticed they have ticked the wrong items on the service checklist, and when I bough the car they saw fit to do the 20k service schedule when it had 36k miles on the clock instead of the far steeper 40k service ( and changed it to fixed without asking if that the service I wanted from now on ).

My paint query has now not been answered by 10 emails, 3 letters and 2 phone calls, one of the letter was signed for too!

What add's to the matter is my Uncle is having the same problem with a car he purchased from them too.

When the aircon is fixed AGAIN thats the last time the car set tyre on Slaters soil, it's Pant Waen for me from now on.

Slaters Abergele , yep . not like they used to be , to buy a car from that garage group you had the feeling of getting a good car ( and my family bought cars there going back to the late 1960`s ),even better service ,but based on the car I bought there 4 weeks ago , the cars and service are  no better than a normal basic back street second hand car lot

this is the last car I get from there ( and no recommendation to family or friends either )

Hi, I am on my second Skoda from Slaters, first Fabia vRS and current car Roomy 3, 1.9tid. The staff that I have dealt with have been fine and service has been good. The deals on both cars have been fine and they  gave me a better deal when I bought my Roomy than,  Mitchells, E. Port. offered me. I have found the sales staff to be enthusiasts for the marque and know the cars. Sadly Slaters decided to give Andrew Childs, the sales person I dealt with the push a few days ago, but Mark is still there and just as helpful

As a cash buyer wanting to place an order for a new VRS I thought Slaters may have been slightly interested in my business......How wrong could I be??.....After being initially ignored in the showroom for the first 10mins a young salesman, who did not introduce himself, asked what I wanted. I told him I was in a position to order a new Octavia VRS and asked him for his best price, close to the 'Drive the deal' price I had been quoted on the net. After a 'smirk' and a further absence of 10mins without the offer of a seat he emerged from his office and stated he could knock £100 off the RRP as there was only a £300 margin in the car!!. I laughed and left my details which to date have not resulted in a follow up call. The following day I placed an order for the car with Pant Waen garage who gave me a price £1500 cheaper than Slaters ( very kind of Pant Waen to lose £1200 on a sale!!) Suffice to say that even though Slaters is only 5 miles from my home they will never get my business for servicing or any future car purchase. I'd have had better service buying a £99 bike at Halfords!!

I was told about 4 months ago, that the vRS was not getting released until mid 2010, probably the same young sales blokey, not a clue!! Did the same and got mine from Steve (who used to work at Slaters) at Pant Waen. I did actually call in to Slaters the other day though to get a litre of oil!! only £9 half the price of other shops and garages.

It's now Lightcliffe Skoda and it's moved from Abergele to Pensarn (sharing with the VW dealership).  I noticed they closed their Volvo dealership as well.

As it happens they are only a couple of miles from me so I have used them for MOT and servicing in the past year and have found them to be very helpful.  I think it's the same staff that we're in the VW dealership previously rather than the Skoda service centre.

I had a call from Lightcliffe the other day updating their records, no doubt I will get promotion stuff from them!

Slaters old showroom is now Threeways Motorhomes
