Capitol Skoda - Newport.

Popped in to enquire about a new Octy vRS. Very helpful sales chap (Richard), tied him up for several hours including an extended test drive. Good p-ex figure but couldn;t agree on a deal on the day. Was expecting a follow up after a few days but none came.

However, generally a good experience, now I'm ready to place an order, they will be my preferred dealer.

Well - emailed them a couple of times, but no response. Perhaps my suggestion on matching the Drive the Deal price offended them.

Bought my new Octavia from here. Richard was superbly helpful and very patient. Much better than Griffin Mill (my local dealership).

Deal went smoothly, price agreed was exactly what I wanted to pay and the car was delivered on the 18th June (only 8 weeks top to tail).

So pleased with the experience that they will be used for the first service.

Picked up Fabia 3 TDI from here on 17th July. Salesman (Paul) very helpful and I got a good deal on the vehicle. Also got extra warranty so that, in addition to the standard 30 days / 1,000 miles, I got an unlimited mileage warranty through to 25th August 2011 for no extra cost.

Very pleased with the vehicle and with the customer service provided by the dealership. Will be back here for first service.

Glad you are happy with your deal. I bought a 2006 Fabia VRS from Capitol (in exchange for a 2004 model) in 2008 and was pleased with the standard of service etc. However, a couple of weeks ago the car needed its annual service and MOT (having only done 25000). I was quoted £303 including VAT. I got the car at the garage for 8.20, picked up the courtesy car and arranged to pick up the VRS at 2.00. I arrived early (1.20) and was told ity was nearly ready. It was a good job that I had a book as I did not get away until 4.00! This completely messed up my afternoon, and in my haste I had not spotted that the total cost of the service and MOT was £358. I could understand a few pounds over the estimate , but not £55 - especially as the car had no faults and just a routine service. Closer inspection of the bill revealed that 4.5 litres of oil was £42 plus VAT.

I wrote outlining my concerns, but that was over a week ago and I am still waiting to hear.

I only went to Capitol as they seemed to have a good reputation - much better than my more local garage in Bristol. It looks as though they are going the same way! What was that slogan about Skoda making happy drivers.........

To be fair to Capitol, I did get a reply to my letter - albeit nearly a fortnight later offering me £55 off my next service and a free MOT. They said that the service I received was a "one off". I wrote and asked for a cheque to cover both amounts, as I would like the option of going elsewhere for the next service. They duly sent a cheque after about ten days.

Had to take my Fabia in for a bit of attention to the electrics. Left it there on Wednesday 12th January and they said they would keep me informed. Sure enough they did and gave me a call on Thursday afternoon saying it was ready. Was working Friday 14th but went and picked it up on Saturday 15th. A/B fault rectified. Was very pleased to find that the vehicle had been washed & cleaned inside and out so it looked like new, which was to the credit of Capitol's workshop staff.

Was very pleased with the service. MOT coming up in April and it will go back to Newport for that as well.

Exchanged my Octavia for the latest 'face lift' model and was dealt with throughout by Paul who kept me informed of the progress of the order from start to finish. He was very courteous and efficient and sorted out a small change to the order that I requested and although from ordering to picking up the motor was over five months due to Skoda's notorious backlog, I was very pleased with the overall service I received from the dealer.

Just taken delivery of a Superb from Capitol.

Good deal and good and helpful service.

They fitted a tow bar for me, which included cutting the underskirt if the back bumper. I was a bit worried that this might disfigure the body work, but the job was done perfectly. Delighted with what they did. Having seen photos of the botched jobs done by others I am very pleased that I left it to them.

my experiences have been some what different from others with this dealer

first contact was to order wheel jack & brace in the foam container- ! they told me they would have to order one & it would be in the next day - then they realized they had one there so I called in on the way home to pick it up going out of my way off the M4 - but half of the kit was missing - so wasted a journey - went back next day to get the one they eventually ordered in for me

week later booked my 2 week old car in for wheel alignment as car does not want to drive in a straight line & to find & cure very small water leak into spare wheel well

well they called me to say water leak was rear parking sensors - but not covered by warranty as not Skoda factory fitted but some after market ones ! WHAT ! I called Skoda UK who confirmed they were factory fitted ( car supplied via Drive the Deal ) back on phone to tell them they are skoda sensors - ok they said!

concerned I called in that night to see why they thought sensors were aftermarket but car had not really been looked at & certainly bumper had not been removed so how could they say water leak was parking sensors !

eventually picked car up 9 days later & drove home - car still not driving in straight line (motorway driving) & steering wheel spokes not horizontal - reversed onto drive & nearly crashed into rear wall as sensors didn't beep to tell me to stop - the plonkers hadn't plugged my sensors backup when they fitted rear bumper

Also they couldn't confirm that they had found the source of the leak, they had changed the estate door seal & covered exisiting seams in white silicone behind bumper

took car back next day - & asked service reception please ensure the workshop plugs them up the correct way around !!!

collect car that night & I asked are they connected they correct way ? workshop supervisor personally assured me they were & had been fully tested

got in car put it into reverse & guess what sensors plugged up wrong way around - they were fully reversed !

Workshop work & supervision totally unacceptable & totally incompetent

& since getting car back I've been getting the bulb failure warning lamp poping up regularly when I apply brakes!

my total experience with this dealer has been just like a Victor Meldrew sketch "I don't believe it!"

Fully credit though to the service receptionist who was very good during this saga !

now I need to find another Skoda dealer to look at my new water leak from top of passenger door , to fix bulb failure warning light issue & to try to get car to drive in straight line & to straighten steering wheel spokes

Dont take it to White Dove in Cardiff or it'll come out with even more problems!!

It is now 7 weeks since I bought my Superb L&K from Capitol, Newport. I have found them helpful and postive and I am a hard and demanding owner believe me.

I have had several issues (minor) with the car though I must add that the dealer has tried to be helpful and obtain the results from Skoda uk.

Their senior team are always helpful which is really all you can ask.

Jenny is one of the better service admins too. I did have to explain to Chris (? I think) the other service contact about the diverter valve seal failure and loss of boost - something which I complained about to them at the last service which was totally missed and was told my car was perfectly alright. Perfectly 30-40bhp down alright, hard to miss really.

Oh and I paid £30 to have the rear wash wipe fixed. It never was, and I still haven't got round to taking it back.

Got my first service with Capitol after White Dove broke my rear window seal after 4 attempts (!) at sticking a plastic panel back on when brand new!!

Capitol were completely different to the Cardiff garage: courteous, quick and competitively priced. Most skoda owners I've spoken to now leave Cardiff to go to Newport due to White Dove's terrible reputation.

Am about to sign the piece of paper for an ex demo petrol vrs wagon. So far a painless experience, apart from the £350 bill for a new rear wheel bearing! Hardly their fault though, never going to get bargain price repairs at a franchise main dealer.

Went to the new Capitol Skoda showroom, looking to exchange my Fabia 1.4TDi estate for a new smaller Greenline model. I walked out when I realised that I would have to pay for the refurb with my part ex. Went to Winner in Cinderford, and got a much better deal.

Went today to have the front grille replaced. Problem the person who I had arranged this through had unfortunately gone sick later that day so he had not ordered or booked it in. Never mind they said and promtly took the front grille of another car and put it on mine and washed the car as well. That is dealing with a problem and having a very happy customer.

I did notice that the front badge has got the dreaded worm marks under the lacquer, that will wait util the first service due in 6k miles.

+1 happy customer of Capitol Skoda Newport.

Bought new Octavia vRS from them in September 2012. Since then I my car developed couple of problems. So phoned up to book it for repairs. Pleasant lady on the phone booked me in within same week.

I did leave car in the garage overnight. Collected it next day. Everything repaired, all warranty work. Hoovered and washed.

Lady's name which i was dealing with is Jenny Cox. She was very pleasant and helpful.

So overall experience was great and I am very happy with my choice of garage.

Just had two alloy wheels replaced under warranty through Capitol Skoda and Newport Fords shared tyre company. Got home and went to clean them and found that they had marked the brand new alloys!!!

Took it back this morning and Capitol's Service Manager told the manager of the tyre people to come and inspect it with their "fitter" who did the work. The "fitter" stated to the manager that he new how it had happened as previously a part on the tyre machine had been caught causing a burr which had in turn caused the damage to my brand new alloy, incredible!!!

The tyre manager said that they coud refurb the alloy, yeah sure I think not. Well the Service Manager has ordered two new wheels (£600).

My treatment by Steve the Service Manager was not an issue as he was just as annoyed by the tyre peoples response as I was.

So I am getting an upgrade to my sat nav at my next service as a result.

Well had my alloys replaced plus a third one (similar milky problem), rear badge, a sat nav upgrade and a very clean car.

I did have the new Leon FR for two days, what a lovely car and boy does i go like stink if you want and apart from the "stink" bit I got 70+mpg on the motor way. Very impressed with the car and service.

Additionally certain people at Capitol were very helpful in givingadvice for my sons Superb 1 L&K which is now booked in to Keith Watkns garage (specialist VW) for a very blocked dpf and may be turbo problem.

Badges had to be replaced again. Booked the car in for 4pm but turned up an hour plus early to be greeted by very polite people, spent half an hour there while they replaced both badges. Had the offer of having the car cleaned but turned it down as I had cleaned it the previous day and drove home smiling.

Will be back in ten to twelve months for another set!

Come on Soda uk put the latest badges on as long as they do not go the worm patten.
