Park's - Hamilton

DGW

Recommended Posts

I've just bought a year-old Fabia vRS from them - sales guys were fine to deal with - no complaints.

Not sure who I'll use for servicing - I work in Glasgow city centre so used Henry's for my MKI vRS. Will probably give Park's a go - can jump the train from Hamilton Central (5min. walk from Park's) - it's only 20mins into Glasgow Central low level (a short walk from my work in York Street).

Try and find a good VAG independant it will be much more sensible.

I used Henry's for my MKI vRS - no complaints - prices were on a par with Audi VW Repair Centre, who claim to be "The largest independent Audi, VW, Seat and Skoda specialist in Glasgow", despite, er, not actually having premises in Glasgow! Chap that bought my MKI said he picked it over others for sale as it had a full dealer service history - I definitely think a dealer service history wins over an indie service history when it comes to sale time (not in terms of getting more for your car, but makes it more attractive to potential buyers - if I were a buyer I know which I'd go for).

For non-service work I used a VAG specialist in Thornliebank (David Mylett).

Got some warranty work completed today.

I emailed them about the issue through their website service contact form & they got back to me pretty quick. I was in on Friday to allow them to diagnose the problem & in today to have the motor replaced for my rear windscreen wiper.

They were really helpful, friendly & courteous. I inquired about getting the first service done & was quoted in the region of £120-£130 which I found reasonable.

Will be going back to see them when I'm looking to change the car too

Pathetic. I have been in lot of garages in my time and this is probably the worst. Complete apathy from most of the staff who seemed more interested in getting their cups of tea, posturing and looking at their phones, the main phones were ringing without being answered.

Car was booked in at 9.00 am to have the engine remap done as per VW advisory letter so took some time off work as I was assured it would take 1 hour to 1 hour 30 mins MAX - confirmed this on two occasions and this was confirmed again when I arrived. Still sitting waiting one hour later at 10.00 am and the car hadn't moved from their customer parking spot. Had I blinked and they had completed the work ? No

I asked what the progress was and the guy who was lacking in any motivation and personality and was clearly masquerading as a service assistant mumbled something which I couldn't make out and went to check, another 5 mins passed when he ambled back and i was told it wasn't started yet. I explained I really can't wait that long as the time i had allocated had now passed! What i would have expected and been happy with was an apology and a reasonable excuse for the delay and an offer to rebook or make me feel like a valued customer. All i got was a shrug of the shoulders and handed my keys back, no eye contact. I asked if there was an apology available and he just turned and walked away.

I was considering buying another Skoda this time from Parks of Hamilton but I will stay well away now and look elsewhere as the Sales team made me laugh - lots of posturing and posing and looking at their facebook pages on their hones.

Absolute JOKE. AVOID!

Hi

Got to agree with you haggis999

I am not impressed with the new service manager.

I've bought a few of cars from this dealership.

But no more.

The dealership was improving ,but they have been a number of changes to staff. And they seem not to be bothering about their customers.

I have complained to the dealer principle, and I was promised a phone call, I am still waiting.

Has 'Gordon is a Moron' left the walking about talking nonsense job at the Skoda Dealership in Parks of Hamilton?

Like the Engine using 1 litre in 621 miles is acceptable, and spark plugs with 40,000 service schedules are OK for 70,000 miles, because he does not know his ar53 from his elbow.

Luckily owners getting Skoda UK involved get their engines replaced and Parks get paid to do it and Gordon strides around as though he was right anyway.

Has the fool on the Service Desk left now, the one that says 5w 40 FS VW 502 00 can not be used during their 'Worderfull value Service Offers' because it is Semi Synthetic?

Skoda UK surely put no mystery shoppers in there to check out the incompetents that work there.

Maybe there are good employees, sadly they must be away from front of house.

hi

Gordon the goofer is now at the Maserati garage.

Ha Ha

I am sure Maserati cc will love that.

A favourite saying off Gordon's is. I don't think it's anything to worry about.

The new service manager is no better.

They promise to phone you but never do.

As for the fool on the service desk,I don't know what one you are referring to.

LOL.

It could be anyone really are any playing with a full pack?

When i have been there it is the one that speaks, no idea what he was talking about, but tried to help,  and even printed off TPI's that he should not have which was nice!

The young one just looked on with a total disinterest.

Hi

If the one that speaks,is the person I am thinking off,he as left.

The young one is still there.

If you ask him anything he just mutters and smiles.

I am sure he is sat in the corner, so he can be plugged in and charged up.

For the VW fix no Customer needs to be out of pocket,  the VW UK CEO told the Select Transport Committee exactly that.

Expenses recompensed to take the vehicle in or a technician can come out and do it.

So invoice VW for your hourly rate if the Appointed Time over run.

They are paying dealership who pay technicians and provide courtesy cars etc.

Your time is worth at least that of a technicians rate.

I thought it was just me. Had a nightmare over my citigo and the sat nav/bluetooth system. Less than useless and argumentative regarding complaints, having been awaiting its return for 2 months now. I'm off to ford or mercedes again after this one and it wont be a parks garage.

just bought a superb from them today..... only reason is I have dealt with them twice before on car deals,

half the cars on the forecourt are dirty and have been for over 2 weeks including the vehicle I'm about to purchase,

depending on condition, my biggest issue with them has been the fact there slow as feck to even sell a car to you at the moment,

its like they just don't care cos there getting paid anyway,

had my octy taxi in to be inspected by there "young mechanics", 65 plate with loud knocking from front and rear..........

2 hours later they told me " nowt wrong but we will see if it develops into something serious" lol

superb wont be looked after by them it will go to my own garage who are skoda specialists

as for Gordon the old service manager he was a utter *******, guys a fudd no clues and no idea what he was there for, still waiting on warranty work to be done

on the wifes spaceback due to the fact the glass boots to heavy for the gas struts............was told I was being foolish by the old ****.

in the last 3 years that dealership has slipped way down in my opinion and there staff have slipped with it,

young sales guy Jamie seems like he knows how to deal with customers but pretty sure that will slip quickly enough going by the

cant give a **** attitude most of them have.

I was going to get them to service my Octavia vRS tdi as its only 2 years old but I think I'll stick to the usual garage I use in East Kilbride. They aren't a Skoda garage but I trust them and can watch them work on the car if I choose to.

  • ok reading this I am getting a little downhearted maybe even worried. I bought my first skoda Oct 17 from them and the salesman Richard mentioned above had absolutely no problem  deal done good communication delivered at time agreed After leaving dealer discovered a fault as the steering wheel volume adjuster had been broken I checked into the service dept to see about it getting fixed and one of the mechanics was there who apparently had done the PDI on my vehicle came out and inspected it agreed he wouldn't have actually checked that bit but spoke with sales and agreed that it would be replaced date agreed for doing the work was booked and I got it fixed with no issues at all. so left happy with the job that's been done. as both sales and aftercare seemed to be up to scratch.
  • 1st service though seemed a different attitude I called in and seemed an effort about getting it booked in by the girl who was on the service desk. car handed in at 9 am and expected it back fairly soon as was only a minor service well phone call to say cars ready at 16:55 and they close shortly so mad rush for me to get the baby in the pram and walk down before the dealer shut not funny! I now have a problem with the clutch sticking slightly not sure if its air in the brake fluid or slave cyclinder but they want £90 for a " diagnostic" wait a minute an hours labour to assess a simple enough problem that a computer wont diagnose? who are we kidding what the hell is going on with the service department?

Best speak with the Manger and see what they want to say about things.

Tell them about this section in Briskoda and they might want to read it.

Bought a new Citigo a few years ago and returned with it soon after buying it as there was a loud knocking noise that sounded very like the exhaust hitting the underside of the vehicle.

The service manager told me that I had unrealistic expectations for such a cheap car and that I should just accept the knocking noise.

I never went back and never will.

Yes indeed, and that's without my having left a review following our interactions over a 9 week period earlier this year, a debacle that featured 3 misdiagnosis, quotes for the repair ranging from £1100 to £7400 (I have the paperwork), blatant lies being told to ourselves and Skoda UK, a face to face meeting with the Service Manager on a Saturday morning in front of other members of the public which ended with my wife in tears, me involving Citizens Advice Scotland, Parks Group Service business manager inviting me casually to go to Trading Standards if I wanted as they had a good relationship with the lads, them keeping the car so long that the MOT expired, Skoda UK told them to hand back the car with a valid MOT (ie test the car and make sure it passed with no further hassle to us), they duly failed it citing corrosion on the brakes that we had fitted in July 2017, but then the car had been sitting in a foot of ****ing snow while waiting for them to work on it, quoting us the exact amount Skoda UK had knocked off the bill as a goodwill gesture to get the car through it's MOT, and then after collecting it and paying the bill, the cheeky ****** had the affront to say he hoped it wouldn't prevent us coming back.

Think that would be all? Wrong. The car had a slow puncture on n/s/r when it went in, but came out with all tyres pumped up. It's only when the TPMS pinged a week later did we discover that all of the tyre valve caps had been overtightened, we had to take to another garage to get them to collapse the sidewalls and fit new valves. They denied it of course, and still would. But we know,

And I can verify all of the above should I ever have to.

I have been using Park's Skoda for my last two services without any real complaints.

I asked them to quote for a haldex oil change which they did but when asked, would not check the flilter for blockage/debris even when asked specifically to do so.

Henrys in Glasgow quoted slightly dearer but explained the filter would be inspected and cleaned without prompting.

How easy it is to lose custom...

Í wonder if this is the same Henry's who told me on each of my 3 Haldex oil changes they carried out there was no filter to inspect/clean/replace?

Also, was the price Henry's charged you the £79 as advertised on Skoda's website?

Before the Haldex oil change was featured on Skoda's website Henry's charged me around £120 for my first one. The second and third services were as per the Skoda website, around £65......

They quoted £99. When I advised it was cheaper at Parks, he stated that was the national price. Given they wouldn't budge on the filter inspection, I didn't push for £20 off.

We'll see how they do...

North or South?

North.  I would ask why they are not honouring the Skoda UK  website advertised price of £79.  The same website that lists all Skoda UK Service pricing.

When I bought my car Skoda were doing a deal on Service Plans that came with a £50 Skoda voucher. When collecting my vehicle after a service I asked to purchase a tin of Autoglym HD Wax which they were selling for about £60 per tin (£15 more than Halfords, but in effect only costing me  £10). They tried to charge me £240 as the wax came from AG in a box of 4 individual packages. I obviously refused. When giving feedback about this they explained the Parts person got confused....

I'm due to change my vehicle in the summer, be prepared for an extremely long posting where I 'name and shame'!

Who would want the Skoda 2020 Fixed Maintenance price matched when it is a Haldex Oil change and not a proper service, clean out, filter change?

Ask the price of the rear diff oil change as well and really confuse the service desk staff.

Who takes their pride and joy and valuable vehicle to Parks?
