Hello from a new owner of a 2014 Superb

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm very pleased with my Superb - it's living up to its name.

I have the 1.4TSi S estate - I test drove both the 1.4 and the 1.8 petrol versions & in the end I opted for the 1.4, with a plan to remap it. There are virtually no estates around with a 1.8 engine, which helped my decision.

I used to have an Audi A4 (B7) 2.0T S Line Special Edition and the Superb puts that to shame in terms of cabin space - I can't get over how much rear legroom there is!

The quality of the interior & switchgear is excellent too - such good value, it's a lot of car for the money!

As mine is an S model (the 1.4 engine is only available on the poverty spec model), it doesn't have the chrome strip between the front fog lights. Could somebody with ETKA or similar assist me by providing the part number & a screenshot of the front bumper assembly, please?

I've fitted "executive" tailored mats from a firm on eBay & I'm awaiting delivery of some Cisbo parking sensors which I will retrofit to the rear valance.

I'll get some photos up as I have some plans for the car and I like a good build thread!

Cheers,

Matt.

Thanks :)

Something else I'd like to do is upgrade to xenons - does the bumper need to come off to remove the headlights?

I'm also keen to upgrade to the Columbus Sat Nav head unit. My car has Bluetooth as standard - is this a module that will work with the Columbus, or will I lose this?

Welcome Createcartel, to convert your lights would be very very expensive and to buy a Columbus unit at a dealer is nearly £3k. You would be better off getting a replacement double deck (Kenwood I believe) unit that has been mentioned on her which I believe is about £600-700.

Hi :)

I have retrofitted many things including the RNS-E sat nav to my Audi & I bought a unit from eBay which was around £500. I've looked and the Columbus is also available, along with the surround/trim required for a great deal less than dealer prices. I guess I'll have to try swapping the unit and see if Bluetooth functions as it currently does, which is very useful.

I'm generally very competent with car mechanics and electrics, so I do most work myself on my cars, apart from specialist work like retrims, etc.

I retrofitted second hand OEM xenons to my Audi & coded them in vag-com which was fairly straightforward. On the A4, the front bumper needed to be removed, so I was wondering if anyone has access to ETKA and could advise if bumper removal is necessary on the face-lifted Superb.

The main thing I'm after is that chrome trim for the front bumper :D

Used OEM xenon headlights will be all but impossible to find for the facelift Superb, at least right now.

I'd go with a set of good quality HID's from London Colour on eBay. There are lots of us running these kits both in here and in the Octavia forum.

The S level Superb still gets the projector (rather than reflector) type dipped beam headlights right?

The ballasts can be stored inside the back of the headlight so as long as you can access the bulbs there is no need to remove the front bumper...

These are non-CANBUS so the car will need coding using VCDS. The CANBUS-friendly ones with built in resistors are best avoided due to them having a reputation for killing BCM's, CCM's and wiper motors.

Welcome! Glad you're enjoying your new car.

Columbus-wise - how about this:

£600 delivered seems pretty good!

Chrome trim is here, but this is for the pre-facelift Superb.

On a 2014 yours is right on the crossover, which version do you have?

Part number: 3T0853607A.

Mine is the facelift model, so 3T5. The SE and up have a straight chrome strip between the fog lights. It's a nice touch I would like to add.

Cheers,

Matt.
