Alloy Wheels 2006 Elegance

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My 2006 alloys are looking really horrible now and I am considering getting a new set but have no idea where to start looking.

Do I go to Skoda? Is there anywhere else people recommend?

Any info is much appreciated.

Cheers

Cheers for that. My wheels black on the inside and it looks like they are rotten. I presume that's due to the weather and salt/grit. Although I wash my car regularly including the wheels, I clearly haven't given them enough care.

Mike, did you have some issues with the centre caps on the Vega alloy's? I think they are larger than usual covering the wheel nuts too?

It would be a shame to refurbish the alloys to like new to then have to put peeling or faded silver centre caps back on?

Expensive new (centre caps not included)!

The size is common to most VWs / Audis from your year through to now.  Depending on how OEM you want it to look I'd start browsing eBay.  There are usually plenty of mint condition 16" alloys with good tyres available at reasonable prices.

I no longer bother buying new tyres - I just buy a good 2nd hand set with quality tyres.

I've had 1 set of BBS rims & 3 sets of Audi rims on my car in the last 6 years.

Ok, nobody can recommend in the Dudley area, but can anyone tell me what should be a decent price to have all 4 alloys fully refurbished please?

Would be nice for someone to price and recommend somewhere here on Briskoda?

Yes very useful for some of us. I had a quick scan. For my winter wheels it might just be the job and a good price to suit.

Plus added bonus of being local

  • 1 year later...

The badges on the Vega Alloys are notorious for the whiteworm water damage, and very soon look really tatty. The caps themselves, being plastic, were OK, but I saved the best of the 8 centre caps (2 cars) for the 54 plate, and replaced the worst 4 with Pasty Boy gelled new design badges for the estate (new centre caps are not available with the new style badges from Skoda)

This is what my centre caps look like now on the estate -- fortunately I don't have any issues with the wheels themselves. No scratches on either car so none needed refurbing.

Yes the originals were removed and new badges stuck on. They are not stickers as such, but proper gel coated badges which look really OEM.They have been on since April 2015, and are as good now as they were when I first put them on, no fading, no peeling, still like brand new.  I got mine from the member Pasty Boy on here, (he makes them up himself) but not sure if he's answering PMs as he hasn't been online since September and says in his profile that he is no longer a Skoda Owner.

Certainly worth a try though.
