Hey everyone.

Thought I'd get a wee progress thread started for my new daily.

And how she looks clean and with a change of shoes ;)

Bought from a good friend of mine as a decent run about whilst I start saving for a house.

Spec:

2004 Skoda Octavia vRS 1.8T 115k miles

Milltek exhaust

Pipercross CAI

Forge 007p

Stage 1 map (allegedly 230hp and feels like it coming from a 260hp A3 TFSI)

Coilovers

Front Upper Strut Brace

18" BBS LM Reps

Audi S3 heated leather Recaros

Black Bora carpet

I'm sure there's a few more little touches I've forgotten but I'll mention them as I find them  :D

Had it on the ramp on Saturday to find out what it needs for MOT and to fit the rear discs and pads it came with.

We had suspected it might need calipers because they were sticking a wee bit but winding the pistons back is was no bother. It turned out to be the handbrake cables were both seized so I've two of those sitting beside me now and 2 exhaust rubbers for the back box.

Also ordered up a new set of Apex coilovers with Polybush top mounts as the coilovers currently fitted to it have seen better days (I'm a bit fussy with my cars) lol.

Plans for the car are a new set of wheels (something with a motorsport flavour), routine maintenance and just enjoy driving it!  :)

I'll be sure to get a few more photos for you all once she has passed MOT and is on the road again ;)

Cheers,

Aaron

So the Apex coilovers arrived this morning...

Really impressed with the quality of them on first impressions. Come with shorter drop links, everything is anodized and wee grub screws to hold the adjusters in place.

They are also height adjustable separate from spring preload so they retain full damper travel even when low, meaning they should be pretty comfortable.

Just waiting on my Polybush top mounts to arrive and I'll get them fitted some night this week :D

Looking forward to finding out what they are like on the road.

Cheers,

Aaron

Thanks mate.

Got new top mount bearings and 10mm shorter PolyBush top mounts and built them up last night so they are going in tonight! :D

Just need greased up and they are good to go. Looking forward to finding out how they drive!

Cheers,

So got the coilovers fitted last night! I'll be honest I didn't really do much as I had the help of some mechanic friends 'cause I was using their ramp. They just sort of took over and had it done in no time  :D

I've no pictures of the stance yet but I'll be sure to get some after MOT tomorrow once the car is cleaned.

By the way I'm really impressed with these coilovers so far! Really nice ride, very comfortable and they go stupidly low! Just look how much I had to raise them to make the car driveable!

Also got the handbrake cables and exhaust rubbers fitted too so the wee car is 100% now!

Just needs a change of wheels next! ;)

Cheers,

Aaron

Hi, really nice car! Do you know, from where is that lip on rear bumper?

It's a genuine Skoda part. Think it was listed as an optional rear bumper spoiler for the Octavia when it was new.

Part Number: FAA310011

Well I got her through the MOT on Saturday! :D

Had to lift the front about 20mm so it would go in the rollers for the brake test but I'll get it dropped down again soon.

Also I'll be sure to get some proper pictures for you all soon.

Next on the list is a new set of wheels ;)

Cheers,

Aaron

Great looking motor.  I have a photo very similar to the last one in the first post from it as Dubshed a couple of years back.. I work in Belfast so local too.. I have a 2002 Black VRS.. I also have full vag-com if you ever need anything sorted..

Thanks

  • 2 weeks later...

Nice steering wheel. Is it smaller than the original? How much did it cost u in total if u don't mind me asking.

Thanks mate! It cost me around £170 all in for wheel and boss kit. Haven't got it fitted yet as I've been busy with work, weekends away and generally larking about! :P

Wheels arrived at the weekend though so I'll maybe have them on soon too ;)

So these are getting tyres today! :D (This is just a teaser pic by the way. The packaging might have the outline of a Rota Slipstream but they aren't Slipstreams).

If I get time tomorrow I'll get them fitted and lower the front back down. Might even get my steering wheel fitted too. Borrowed a B&G Quick Release off a friend to trial fit to see if I like how close it will make the wheel sit towards me :)

More pics to follow soon.

So a few of you who have me on Instagram may have seen this on Saturday but I finally got my wheels on!

Got new tyres fitted by the good lads at Blacks Road Service Station and then took the wheels up to the Skoda. Dropped the front back down a touch, bolted the wheels up and stood back in admiration! tongue.gif

Proper tarmac rally car / 90's touring car style, well happy!

Fitment is bang on so for anyone wondering the wheel specs are as follows;

Rota D154 18 x 8.5j ET30 with 225/40/18 tyres all round.

They are pretty damn close to the coilover but I can get a credit card through no problem so it should be ok. I'll keep a close eye on it to make sure it doesn't rub though. ;)
