Mine works fine.

I activated alarm confirmation, one press all unlock, disabled Windows down with key in lock and a couple of other things.

Had my OBD II adapter for a couple of years now, when I used to run the torque app all the time.

Seems like the modern adapters are a bit hit and miss

I've recently got Carista with the bluetooth adaptor and its working fine. I also was using the torque app and that combo worked fine on my mk1 but strangely wouldn't work on the mk2. It just kept saying not connected to ecu.

Funny enough I have just come inside to post a promised reply on a thread just a bit further down the list, saying how I got on using Carista with an ELM 327 mini WiFi reader.

The ELM device arrived yesterday and appeared not to work. An email today from the supply said that the engine must be running, not just have ignition on. Went outside to try it and he was right.

Within 15 minutes I had set up the DRLs (which is the whole purpose of the exercise) and also Coming Home lights using dipped beams! Great result.

This is the diagnostic port reader I used:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121660462838

Total cost was £8.95 for the reader and £14.99 for the in-app purchase to allow settings.

I used WiFi rather than Bluetooth as I have an Apple mini iPad and most Bluetooth devices are not V4.

Strange... I don't need the engine running to do mine

That is what I thought as everyone says just turn on the ignition. I contacted the seller before sending it back and he said the engine must be running for the WiFi to be available. Tried it and it worked.

Now that the ipad knows there is a wifi node there, I will try next time with the ignition only on to see what happens.

I have the Bluetooth version and have tried it with just the ignition on and with the engine running and it still says it's defective.Running the torque app it seems to be perfect

There are two different versions.

Bluetooth for Android based phones and WiFi for iPhones.

My Android one works with only the ignition.

Are we saying that it is perhaps the WiFi ones that require the engine running?

Mine looks exactly like this one:

Have no affiliation with the seller, nor have I used previously.

Does anyone have a list of what changes can be done with the obd/carista,I'm particularly looking for the large speedometer/DRL/Needle sweep/Cornering fog lights.

Here is the the list for Octavia 2010+

This is another list for earlier Octavias.

'Ahenners'followed the link and mailed the supplier to confirm that it would work with carista, reply was that it's not compatible. Iff anyone has a link to a Bluetooth one that would definitely work it would be appreciated,it seems like the wifi ones are more suitable.

As far as I am aware there are no Bluetooth v4 units out there so for Apple devices you have to use WiFi.

However, for Android devices almost every Bluetooth unit will work as Android supports the older protocols.

Hmm strange, surprised about that as it looks exactly like mine and I used it to enable alarm chirp, and run the fault codes off for a misfire I had the other day. It also worked brilliantly with BMWhat when I had the BMW too on a Sony Z1 and Z3. Good luck finding one that works as they are a brilliant little thing to have :)

Been following this thread for a bit now as the Carista software seems a good (read good enough for my needs) so installed in on my Galaxy Note 2.  Bought the OBD Mini ELM327 OBD2 V1.5 Car Bluetooth Scanner on eBay for about £5.60, but despite trying every possible combination of actions, whilst it did connect, it didn't do anything else as said the OBD unit was faulty.  This was meant to be from a UK seller, but seller response was from a certain far eastern country! Shouldn't complain I suppose, I did at least get the two Trojans that others have mentioned on the accompanying disk. Nice.

However, not deterred, I bought an OBD device from Amazon that was £13 quid (plus postage), that had received 30 100% reviews, and it arrived today and worked completely and immediately, and did everything I needed it to.

So, I guess you pays your money and you takes your choice, but seems to me that the quality control on the cheaper units (as some people seem to have made them work fine, and others, not so), is dubious and therefore you might end up paying out £6 for a non-functioning blue box and a couple of viruses, and you might not.   I wouldn't buy a cheaper one again - what's the point (what would happen if it did work, and then stopped mid way through changing a setting :@)

I've been asking suppliers about various ones and they all say there's are not compatible,as you spannaz, the replies seem to be coming from foreign suppliers although they advertise as being shipped ftom the UK.looks like I'll have to follow your route and buy the more expensive one to guarantee it works with carista.

Its odd though that others with the same car seem to have had the same unit working?

Back to my comment about quality control I think

Presumably because WiFi takes more power than Bluetooth.
