Custom TBE System MK2 Fabia VRS

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon everyone, i'd just like to make this post to show off my custom made exhaust system by BCS Automotive in Haydock, (North West England).

It is a Decatted exhaust with twin 3" bore tail pipes.

My car was the first to have this custom build and was the guinie pig car, so to speak.

He made my exhaust using a jig so he can make more and sell them from his website.

It is also worth a little mention that i work for TPS (Trade Parts Specialists) We have just recently opened up a new branch in Warrington just next to Ikea but also sell from our existing branch in Bootle, so if you need any parts i'd be more than happy to help you out! :)

Hope you enjoy!

Dave

Welcome to the forum.

Looks good.

Sounds not so good IMHO on the move,

and will draw a bit too much attention when trying to get a move on, it certainly is not suited to stealth.

Thankyou :)

I agree, it isn't to everyones taste, some people might say it's to loud but i like people to know i'm here :)

Driving normally it sounds near enough standard it's when like you said, you need to get a move on, it comes to life.

I'm only 22 so still a baby really haha the noise on boost certainly suits me well!

Yes i understand that.

If you do push on sometimes then after you have received 3 or more points and a fine you get to the stage where drawing attention to your car loses some appeal.

The Points and fine are some times less of a hit than the Insurance Increase when you tell them you have got points.

Good & sensible.

So a standard car can get to that in around 6.1- 6.5 seconds.

How is your car doing with the Sports Cat?

It doesn't actually have a sports cat it's a straight through pipe which again, isn't to everyones taste.

The first couple of days of driving did flag up the orange engine light and log a fault of emissions to high as expected but after taking it back to BCS they fitted a 90 degree spacer to my 2nd probe and touch wood it hasn't been back on since!

As far as MOT's go it would probably be a fail but with me working in the motor trade i have a few close connections with various MOT testers who will turn a blind eye for a few beer tokens ;)

If however they are being stubborn, i have kept my old exhaust so although it would be hastle, i can swap over my cat just to get it through the MOT.

It is a pain however keeping the damn thing clean! Haha

OK,

So the description below the Video is not representative of the exhaust in the video.

I had an issue this last MOT getting a Stage 1 CAVE engine through the Emissions, and the tester was failing it anyway because it had a De-cat, which actually it did not.

Friendly MOT testers that are prepared to risk the loss of their ticket counts for little when you are pulled in and

a Qualified Examiner is going over your car because the noise catches their attention.

I take it then that have declared your Mod with your insurers!

If not that will be your insurance invalidated.

No the description on the video isn't entirely accurate.

My MOT is only something to worry about next year i suppose, i'll see nearer the time wether someone is willing to help me out.

Absolutely, i have spoken with my insurance company who have made a note on their system but suprisingly didn't charge any extra?!

That will simply be that they did not understand that you had voided the insurance be removing the Cat

and running without one on your car, so under Construction & Use it is not road legal anymore, if they were to have a Loss Adjuster doing an examination if a claim or check is required, they will be clued up enough to know.

They will be taking it from what you told them that it is just a replacement SS Exhaust.

im not fully clued up on all the insurance woes etc but one thing to know is does it actually increase performance, by this i mean proven figures and not sales patter. if theres no performance gains then its no different to buying an exhaust from kwikfit type places and in doing that you dont tell the insurance companies do you, you are replacing an item on the car, wear and tear for instance, not adding something that was never there originally

as for the cat, thats slightly different but again are you to know this is done, did they tell you and if one dropped on your lap would you know what it was? it is a minefield but you do need to tell them what you know, 'to the best of my knowledge' is a phrase i like to use and come the time of issues then ask then to listen to their recording for what was said.

there are people out there that would have you declare a briskoda sticker as a mod

Thankyou for your advice. I do want to be as truthful as possible whilst still being able to be insured!

Now that i think of it, the lady on the phone was very helpful indeed but i did get the impression she didn't fully understand what i was talking about.

Maybe if i go along with the sports cat script, "to my knowledge" no power gains :)

The difference is, this is an open forum, and if someone openly says they have a De-cat on a petrol car, then they are as well to know the possible consequences if they are in an Accident and the vehicle is inspected,

even where they were in no way responsible for the accident, and the Mods had no part in it.

Say a child runs out in front of you.

A member recently wrote off a car with undeclared mods and had to withdraw the insurance claim.

The Insurer will cover the 3rd parties losses if any claim there, but not the person that invalidated their policy.

They usually do not pursue them for the cost of what they paid out, but sometimes the Underwriter does.

It is just how it is.
