Just as well to go for it, you should get 210 BHP +.

Fuel consumption should not be any worse, likely better if you do the same speed after as before.

Is this for a CAVE engine,

or can SHARK PEFORMANCE do a CTHE Twincharger now?

I received this message yesterday :-

Sorry for the delay, Carl has been unavailable to answer your query.

We can offer stage 1 software for your Fabia as it has the CTHE engine rather than the problematic CAVE engine.

The stage 1 remap sees increases to 205hp and 300nm torque and is normally priced at £499 inc vat, however throughout August we are offering 25% off the RRP of our performance software so the price would be £374.25 inc vat.

Best Regards,

Matt

Good that they can do the CTHE.

Can you ask if they have done one & that is where the figures given is from, & had they the car on the Dyno before & what it was putting out on the Dyno.

It would be good to know what the Before Figure was when they were getting it to 205 HP with their Map.

If a CTHE on 99 ron is getting near 190hp then its not a great increase,

but they might just want to be conservative with what they say you will get.

With a Tuning Box you could be getting 210 hp and not Invalidating your warranty.

Will you be getting yours on the Dyno before and after?

I've placed this here to gauge opinion Goneoff...if I unferstood half of what you asked I probably would have formulated my own ideas lol. I can only but mail your requests and see what reply I get from Shark

Shark Performance have been asked before if they Can and Have remapped a 1.4 TSI CTHE ECU.

They never said that they have done when asked, just that they can do them.

But now you have been told that they can, that is good.

Maybe just ask if your car is the first CTHE that they will have done.

??

Does anyone else know of a 2012 on 1.4 TSI 132kw CTHE remapped in the UK.

By SHARK, APR, REVO, AmD Tuning or anyone else?

Every tuning firm I've approached (APR, TMC, REVO) SAY they can remap a CTHE, but when it comes down to it, they admit they can only do it by 'Jail breaking' the ECU, which if your car is still in warranty, is a path you really want to avoid.

I must admit my knowledge is at least 6 months old so I suppose things could have changed......but I wont hold my breath.

Who's going to waste time & money writing code for an obsolete engine with only limited sales?

Thank you one and all !

I will put your question Goneoff being as I understand it,

"Have they done a CTHE engine & if that is where the figures given are from, & had they the car on the Dyno before & what it was putting out on the Dyno."

I realise that there's a lot riding on this so I will let you know via this thread what ever reply I receive from Shark

Regards and Thanks again

As I understand it the only way to remap a CTHE engine which uses a Bosch EDC17 or MED17 ECU, is by removing the ECU (which is secured by anti-tamper bolts), & then removing its lid with a heat gun - see here:-

A little bit drastic don't you think? Worth jeopardizing your warranty? Not when a tuning box will give you more or less the same gains & to all intents & purposes is invisible & easily removable.

I have a Bluespark 3 channel tuning box & I'm absolutely delighted - far cheaper than TMC as well!

A member here had the CTHE ECU removed and opened by a APR Dealer and they still could not remap it.

The pictures were on a thread on here.

After this APR, REVO, SHARK & others said a CTHE could be done from the OBD port.

Still waiting to hear from someone that has had it done other than the VW Polo GTI's in South Africa.

As a newbie I am interested in a slight increase in power but more so better mpg. . . .

What MPG are you getting at present?

Some on here claim easily to be able to get into the high 40s - some even claim to get over 50 MPG!

is that the same as the tmc one with 3 plugs on it?

erm I'm not sure what replacement engine I've got... But I did run a 14.4 at the pod meeting. Well I was talking to Sam on Wednesday night and he made 210 bhp on the rollers with the box and I think his car wasn't modified as much as mine. People thought mine was about 200 bhp ish already but I've got no idea what it was or what it is now... We will all have to wait till the shark performance openday

This is the reply to the question about cars used and dyno readings before and after remapping:-

"Yes we have mapped the CTHE engines previously. The software has been developed in house on our dyno, I will have a look to see if we have a plot for the CTHE engine on our system.

Thanks,"

So how does that work for the debate??

Wonderful, thanks.

If they come up with a Before and After Dyno Sheet for a CTHE engine that will be really good.

It is interesting that their website says only 300 Nm & 205hp

That would be a minimum hopefully from a CTHE

I would be wanting more on 99 ron, but that is maybe a figure on 95 ron

(APR say 212hp & 250lb/ ft torque on 98 ron Octane,  (which is 338 Nm)

I would think they can expect some more customers their way taking advantage of the discounted price.

?

So how many miles has your engine done now.

Will you have the Spark Plugs checked or changed before having a Remap done if you go for that?

To be honest I'm rushing more towards a

tuning box by leaps and bounds.I like the control you have over your own destiny and in turn how fast you reach that destiny!
