Dashboard noise

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Today while driving, I noticed that on bumpy roads or when take a curb fast there are some noises coming out from the dashboard. Didn't manage to find out what exactly is causing them but the noises are coming out from somewhere in the back of the central air vents. On long roads it's kinda annoying. Any solutions to this issue?

Thanks! :)

Can you help us to help you and give a description of the sound? For instance, our dash "creaks" when it's very cold when the body twists slightly going over speed bumps...

Same noise. It "creaks" on bumpy roads or when body twists slightly as you said.

Well, as I've said, our MKI (and my Father-in-laws B5 Passat) displays this "characteristic". I was worried too when I got the car and the dealer took me out in one of their MKI and it was making the same noise. It seems to be caused by the contraction from the cold and expansion though warming of heater of the slush plastic material used in the dash moulding, creaking against the A Pillars and bulkhead, so I don't think you can pack it with anything to stop it moving. I'd say it's normal, annoying I agree, but it's not unusual anyway.
