Always had a soft spot for these and it looks in pretty good nick :) is it staying as it is or are you going to put the decals back on?

Yep decals will go back on. The plan is to restore to concours condition.

Nice. Always wish I'd bought a wrc originally.

Didn't realised the rear handles were green, suppose its a good way of checking for a genuine one.

Did they come without rubstrips as well?

.

Rear handles are painted green

I started on some jobs that need doing today. First the Drivers and Passenger front window regulators were broken. So off to TPS for parts. The drivers side was in stock and I've ordered the passenger one.

First door card needs to come off.

Tweeter and remote mirror switch need removing.

C1D406E0-F3DB-4951-A360-9D2EECAEA6C2_zps

Then the switches need to be removed. A pinned plate needs to be removed. Then the switches are removed upward and can be disconnected.

Some torx retaining screws are down the edges of the door card. Also three large bolts where the switches were need to be removed.

Once all screws are removed the door card lifts upwards and off of the door. Door release cable, alarm led and puddle light connector can now be attended to allowing removal of door card.

Speaker now needs to be removed and membrane pulled away allowing access to regulator bolts.

I taped the window in the closed position so that regulator could be removed without window dropping down.

The window motor connector needs to be dis connected.

BD521E95-58B1-42EE-A60E-6B70A12B0FA1_zps

Then 6 bolts to undo and the two glass clamps and the regulator can be removed from the door.

Now the motor needs swapping from old broken regulator to the new one and refitting can commence. The switches can be plugged in allowing operation of the regulator to get clamps in correct position.

Protective membrane needs to be fixed back using tape and door card screwed back on.

Didn't take too long to do this job and now window operates as it should so that's 1 thing ticked off of the list.

Looking good,

I don't  know if Garry (first owner) is reading the forum anymore as his last post was a few years ago. As I mentioned on the FB group, I have seen this car in the flesh many years ago in the south of spain where it spent many years before finding its way back to the UK (Pre hail storm which is when the stickers were lost I think in the repairs).

66/100 today's progress.

Fitted new Drivers door card and Bowden release cable. Replaced passenger window regulator so all windows now go up and down as they should. Fitted new passenger door mirror as existing one was broken and finally gave nearside rear door and quarter a clay and polish.

Busy on 66/100 again today. Full service using all genuine parts. Oil filters plugs etc. Then luggage compartment strip and clean and all carpets and parcel shelf replaced. Also painted the rear braces and fitted some mint rear seats that I had in the garage. Some before and after pics.

Good progress Pete.

Yes nice project really. Being in Spain for a number of years has kept it rust free. But lots of dust, and sand everywhere. So just have to take everything apart clean and reassemble replacing any too far gone parts along the way.
