Classic ATZ Engine Electrical wiring 1.4MPi

I'm starting to hate the germans for putting all those electronic bits on the old Skoda engine.

They ****ed me off to a point where I'd be willing to convert it back to carburator, a rallyhead with 2 double webbers on it would have made this engine better than the POS oem electronical VAG parts...

Electronic gas lagg, uber lagg after left foot braking, cuts off power completely when it senses the brake is pressed or something,

which for a car WITHOUT ABS and traction control is strange.

Also I can't find a way to wire up a simple shift light, it's only the light which needs a ground, a power source and the RPM signal which is hidden better than the confidential files from NASA.

I'm looking for a fast guide before the 18th next month as for this year I'm in the top 3 rally sprint finals (climbed up from 8th place), and would really need some visual aids driving on slick tyres if the eloctronic gas can't be sorted out...

From a quick look at some wiring diagrams, it looks like rpm is measured in the engine ECU from crankshaft sensor information. This rpm information seems to be communicated to the instrument cluster ECU via the CAN bus.  This may explain your difficulty in finding an accessible rpm signal.

So, this would mean I could get the RPM signal from the back of the dashboard instrument pannel if I unmount it and locate which wire goes to the tach on the dash?
