Recall on used VRS.

Just entered my VIN on the Skoda recalls section of the website out of curiosity. And it came back with this.

Dear customer,

a recall campaign has been found for the entered VIN TMBFP************

Please contact your preferred service partner as soon as possible, who will provide you with all necessary information and service to ensure your safety and car functions. If further assistance is needed, please contact the „ŠKODA Customer Hotline“.

I am now intrigued to find out what it's for. I will be on phone tomorrow to used car dealer i bought it from. Although I'm not sure they can do owt. So is it a case of contacting local Skoda dealer? or customer hotline as suggested.

Could you please link the Skoda Site that has a Recall Section please

There are no 'Recalls'   Well not VOSA Recalls,

or Skoda Recalls.

They do tend to use that term, yet do not 'Recall Vehicles'. you are supposed to find out somehow.

http://dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/default.asp?tx=

(the 1.2 Diesel 44 kw Engine Recall was running since last year, and vehicles have still not been Recalled in some cases.)

There are Service Campaigns.

So possibly,

DSG Service Campaign,

Heated Seat Element Service Campaign,

Wiring Loom Campaign,  etc etc

Please let us know if there is a New and recent Service Campaign.

I did go on .gov before hand, and as you suggest nothing. Edited by TopRavr

Great thanks for that link.

Myself and a few others have asked Skoda UK Customer Services for over 2 years for a VIN Checker.

Now if Skoda Main dealers just check a bit more & correctly they might notice that cars in for Servicing

or undergoing Skoda Approved Used Car Workshop checks are in need of Field Actions

due to being flagged under a 'Service Campaign',  or as called on the checker, 'a recall'.

Phoned Skoda customer services at Wath-upon-Dearne. Recall action is for gearbox oil change. Dates back 2014. Phoned local dealer they reckon it's not urgent, and can be left until next service. Which is in 6 months time. I shall be calling in at another local dealer first thing and getting it done there and then. Nice one.

Please give Skoda UK Customer Services a call,

& tell them how a Official Skoda Dealership treated a Customer with a Service Campaign that has been running for 18 months,

and is only a Service Campaign because VW / Skoda convinced VOSA / DVSA / DfT  that it was not Safety Critical

and they would contact all owners so a 'Recall' was not required.

Even though the issue can cause a vehicle to loose drive.

I reckon Skoda Dealers might be a little busy soon doing other Service Campaign work,

i Hope the 'Letters to every owner' works out better for the Owners of VW Engine Diesels.

Incompetence & poor communication skills is just a Volkswagen Group trait.

By all accounts on this very forum this "recall" to allow a change of the DSG oil (and probably flashing an update onto the ECU) is not critical in the UK - unless we have a VERY hot Indian Summer some time in the next six months - or in fact, ever. Your local dealer is probably just trying to save you time and grief.

Except as we know Members here have had their vehicles requiring a new MCU after their vehicle cut out.

The Service Campaign is supposed to involve checking the MCU, and some need replaced.

There is no 'probably' about updating the Software, it is part of the Service Campaign.

23 *oC here right now.  that is warmish.

Grief would be involved if the car does cut out in the slip road as you come onto a Motorway.

Death can be quite upsetting,

but then that will be VW or the Dealer that thought the Field Actions were not important that might have to

answer questions in a Coroners Court.

vxh26 will just say, one of those things probably, not a common cause of accidents,

it was Autumn in the UK.

UK owners driving in the UK or Mainland Europe might well experience weather and temperatures much like those in New Zealand.

Buy all accounts i think it's a simple change from one type of oil to another.

By the Service Campaign it is not just changing Synthetic Oil to Mineral.

& putting a sticker in the boot.

'Recall 34 F7 Gearbox Oil'.
