Catch cans and breather filters

I have the elephant mod for a good while.

But I don't like the fact it puffs under the car, would prefer if it was more clean, given all the attentions diesel are getting lately.

Anyone tried something like this? (my only probelm is my hose goes to under my car and I can see this just falling off, but I'd rather it under the car than in the engine bay as equally I don't want to be breathing it in either).

Am I better with a proper catch can ?

Right lol, sounds like the catch can is a waste of time ( though given some splatters on my drive it probably does help keep it clean).

But the actual venting it sounds a bit pointless for like you said....

I might just give it a crack with the cheap vent filter then or just a vented aerated plastic bottle as a mk1 attempt to reduce the smoke just a little bit !

Thanks

That is horrid idea. Obviously I doubt you've cleaned your inlet after 90k+ of build up, if you did you wouldn't doubt the benefits of bypassing the breather into the egr !

My car got sluggish and felt choked around that, didn't help that I no longer did my high mileage but fast runs which probably at least helped keep the volume through the intake and probably helped to burn it up. So I was suffering with similar problems people have with DPF nowadays.

I took the decision to do the elephant mod and seriously don't regret it but for the smoking problem !

Car drives so much better when its not choked, it doesn't really smoke as such but its just annoying vapour which does make the car look bodged so it would be nice to have a way to reduce the vapour a bit thats all.

Pipe > catch can > inlet

Add a little dirty exhaust gases with some unburned diesel mixed in from the egr, throw In some oily vapour from the turbo, add a little extra oil vapour being sucked from the crank case and you have a nice dirty pile of sludge.
